In early October 2024, two famous rappers, Binh Gold (real name Vu Xuan Binh), whose song "Boc bat ho" was heavily criticized, and Andree Right Hand (real name Bui The Anh) released the product "Doi thong tinh" on Youtube.
In the above product, the 2 Rappers continue to express the content of a party style associated with supercars, luxury goods and hot girls. The title and lyrics of the song are considered inappropriate for public morality. Notably, this product is not labeled 18+ (for adults) on the Youtube platform.

Commenting on the content of Binh Gold's latest Rap song on Facebook, an account named Lam commented: "Rappers imitate foreign rappers, but they don't understand that this is Vietnam, the customs and practices are very different."
Besides, account Duong Trong Hieu commented: "The context of many Western countries is different from Vietnam. So don't apply that culture to the entire Rap music scene of Vietnam, what makes Vietnam is its cultural identity. Currently, there are many Rappers who respect and understand that difference, but there are still people who demand 'freedom' which is offensive."
Most of the comments still condemn the current rappers for using vulgar words that are not in accordance with the fine customs of Vietnamese culture. Previously, male rapper Binh Gold had removed all of his MVs on YouTube due to strong criticism. Rap songs with content about vices, partying, and showing off by the male rapper such as "Boc bat ho", "Ong ba gia tao lo het", "Bat che me bay len"... are considered to have the potential to leave serious consequences.
Notably, this male rapper was even criticized on National Television. Over the past two years, audiences have commented that Binh Gold has changed his musical style and moved in a more positive direction, but his latest product continues to cause controversy.
In fact, currently in Vietnam, there are many definitions of Rap music, even many times controversial. No one knows exactly about the birth of Rap music. However, there is an origin of Rap music that is recognized by many people, that is Rap was born many centuries ago in the land of West Africa. In the history of West Africans, there were historians who told the story of their land with simple drum beats. This style is similar to Rap music as we know it today. Rap music is known to express the artist's desire for freedom and openness.
At the same time, the content of Rap music also has many different types such as Rap about positive energy (homeland, national identity), love between couples, including the most condemned Rap genre, which is Rap with negative content, reflecting the dark corners of society. Some reviews state that, thanks to the diversity of Rap music development in Vietnam, many famous Rappers have been created, with influence on popular culture such as Den Vau, Suboi (who once asked direct questions and Raped for former US President Barack Obama to listen to when this leader visited Vietnam).
Objectively, there are many controversial views on the works of male rapper Binh Gold. There are also opinions that this male rapper wants to use rap music to reflect, criticize, and condemn the loose, irresponsible lifestyle of a part of today's youth. Typically, in the song "Boc bat ho", this male rapper also seems to emphasize that a loose lifestyle, falling into vices will lead to a tragic life, with no future. In reality, this male singer is a discreet person, has no controversial statements, and does not brag about a degenerate lifestyle on social networks, except for images when making music videos with the production team. However, this male rapper is still considered to need to moderate the language in his songs.
In addition, some comments also say that not all works of art that talk about social negativity encourage viewers to imitate. For example, recently, Vietnam Television is broadcasting the film "Doc Dao" which has attracted many viewers. In particular, this film also reflects the violent lifestyle, "debauchery", and social evils of drug criminals. Through that, it also reveals the difficulties and dangers of the police force when facing powerful criminal organizations at drug hotspots in Vietnam. However, if there is no age limit on viewers of this film, the risk that young people who are not aware enough can imitate behaviors related to violence and vulgar culture can still occur.
Therefore, for the current art product market, warning viewers is very important. Individuals and organizations when releasing works of art to the public need to have warnings related to content and exact age because it can be counterproductive to the author's intention. At the same time, it is also necessary to moderate content that is too violent or offensive. Because currently, social networks such as Facebook and Youtube also have regulations that if media products have images or content that violate community standards, they will be removed.
At the same time, those who access artistic products through social networks and mass platforms need to equip themselves with knowledge and awareness so that their thoughts and lifestyles are not affected by images that reflect negative aspects of society. In particular, the elderly, parents and guardians need to strictly control the content that children can access and carefullyeducate them about right and wrong regarding current social issues.
