Ho Chi Minh City Youth Workers Leaders light the fire of creativity for the community

Being active in the emulation movement to promote initiatives, improve techniques and enthusiastically participate in Youth Union activities, volunteer activities... are the common points of 33 outstanding Youth Workers Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 who were just honored on the evening of October 26.

Ms. Du Thuy Huyen Tran, Secretary of the Youth Union of Cu Chi Power Company, Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, is one of the typical examples honored this year.

During the 2022-2025 period, with the spirit of volunteerism and creativity, the unit has implemented many practical programs and tasks.

Specifically, the unit and the Youth Union of the Corporation implemented the project "Safe, civilized, economical light source for social security". The project renovated and repaired the electrical system for 640 households in difficult circumstances in areas inside and outside Ho Chi Minh City. The total cost of implementation was more than 512 million VND and more than 900 volunteers participated.

Repairing electrical systems for households in difficult circumstances

Or through the project "Alleys with safe, aesthetic, and economical electrical systems" have renovated, bundled information cables, installed solar lighting systems to ensure electrical safety, urban aesthetics, and improve people's lives. The project was carried out on 118 streets and alleys in and outside Ho Chi Minh City. The project mobilized more than 1,000 volunteers to participate, installing about 630 solar lighting systems, with a total cost of nearly 1.1 billion VND.

Applying technology to improve management efficiency

Sharing the joy, Mr. Pham Tran Hoang Van, Member of the Executive Committee of the Saigon Water Corporation - LLC, Deputy Secretary of the Phu Hoa Tan Water Supply Joint Stock Company's Youth Union, expressed his determination to contribute to the development of the unit. "The title is a reminder for me to continue to maintain the spirit of initiative, creativity, daring to think and dare to do - true to the image of a young worker in the period of digital transformation and sustainable development," said Mr. Hoang Van.

Sharing about “Application of information technology in the management of water meter resizing records, supporting the work of preventing invisible water loss at the unit”, Mr. Hoang Van said that in the past, the management of water meter resizing records at the company was manual, lacked synchronization, and relied heavily on paper records and Excel spreadsheets. Coordination between departments was difficult, records were prone to errors and loss. Therefore, a more scientific management system was needed.

Thinking is doing, Mr. Hoang Van and his team built a model. The system allows digitizing all electronic records in each stage; updating progress and automatically collecting statistics and reports; integrating water consumption data to suggest appropriate meter size adjustments. In particular, it also has the feature of access authorization, ensuring security and personal responsibility, along with an easy-to-use interface.

Thanks to that, records are tracked, searched centrally, reducing errors and shortening processing time. The application of technology also reduces printing, storage and unnecessary replacement costs; reduces invisible water loss, uses water resources effectively, and brings benefits to the community. At the same time, it contributes to administrative modernization and promotes digital transformation in businesses.

Spreading Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space

During his work, Mr. Tran Doan Minh Tri, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Petroleum Company Youth Union, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee Office Youth Union, and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Agencies Youth Union, proposed many initiatives, contributing to improving the unit's operational efficiency.

A typical example is the development of the “Oil spill prevention and response plan for Gas Station No. 39, a branch of Ho Chi Minh City Petroleum Company Limited in Dong Thap province” and put into use from September 2024. The initiative can be applied to gas stations of similar size of the unit.

“The plan fully complies with the law on environmental protection and oil spill response activities. Along with that, it anticipates oil spill situations, proposes appropriate handling measures and organizes annual drills,” said Mr. Minh Tri.

Besides, he also proposed the solution of "Renovating the company office's professional room into a meeting room combined with Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space", contributing to building a modern and friendly working environment; spreading Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and style.
