Request to update chip-embedded citizen identification card when trading securities

Securities companies have sent notices to investors requesting them to update personal information to chip-embedded citizen identification cards as prescribed before October 1.

The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 387/TB-VPCP dated August 16, 2024, concluding the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on the development and promulgation of a Decree stipulating mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power.

On August 12, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises held a conference to hand over the National Power System Dispatch Center (A0) from Vietnam Electricity Group and the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The National Power System Control Center has now been transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade under the name of National Power System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO). (See details)

In the draft Decree amending decrees on petroleum trading, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes that key petroleum traders base on input parameters announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and calculation formulas prescribed in the Decree to self-calculate and announce the selling price of petroleum traders.

Proposal to impose tax of 15,000 VND/pack of cigarettes

At the workshop "Providing information on the harmful effects of tobacco and the role of tax policy in preventing the harmful effects of tobacco" held on the morning of August 13, Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Legal Department (Ministry of Health) cited research data from the Health Economics Association showing that in 2022, medical costs due to diseases related to tobacco use will reach VND 108,000 billion, equivalent to 1.14% of GDP. Total tax revenue from tobacco reached VND 17,600 billion, less than 1/5 of medical costs...

“The Ministry of Health proposes that the absolute tax rate must reach 15,000 VND/pack (20 cigarettes) by 2030, in addition to the 75% tax rate. This plan will help achieve a tax rate of 65% of the retail price, close to the WHO recommendation, helping to reduce the rate of tobacco use among men to 36% by 2030,” Ms. Thuy emphasized.
