Saigontourist Group received 4 major awards at the ASEAN Economic Forum 2025

At the ASEAN Economic Forum 2025 held on August 16 in Singapore, Saigontourist Group was honored to receive four prestigious awards, affirming its pioneering position in sustainable tourism development.

In which, Saigontourist Group and Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center Joint Venture Company (SECC) were awarded the "Top 10 ASEAN Green Growth Brands 2025", recognizing their efforts to build an environmentally friendly tourism ecosystem, harmonizing economic and community benefits.

At the same time, two senior leaders of the group, Mr. Pham Huy Binh, Chairman of the Board of Members, and Mr. Truong Duc Hung, General Director, were honored in the category of "Outstanding ASEAN Leader 2025", emphasizing the leadership mark in the 50-year development journey of Saigontourist Group.

Harmonizing economic benefits and social responsibility

Honored to receive the award, Mr. Pham Huy Binh said that these awards are a worthy recognition for the continuous efforts of all staff in developing sustainable tourism , and at the same time a motivation for Saigontourist Group to continue to pioneer in building a green tourism ecosystem and preserving indigenous cultural values.

"We are extremely proud to receive these prestigious awards, especially on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Saigontourist Group (August 1, 1975 to August 1, 2025). The awards are a clear demonstration of Saigontourist Group's commitment to harmonizing economic benefits and social responsibility, contributing to the common development of the ASEAN community," said Mr. Huy Binh.

Over the past 5 decades, Saigontourist Group has consistently pursued a development strategy associated with the environment and culture, from promoting eco-tours, green resorts, the "Green Living - Green Tourism" tree planting program to applying international standards such as ISO 14001 and sustainable development reporting according to GRI.

The group's hotel, travel, and MICE systems have all implemented green initiatives synchronously, from energy saving, resource reuse to waste classification at source. At Saigontourist Group, the group's Board of Directors has resolutely directed the application of advanced technology and environmentally friendly solutions, specifically developing eco-tours, green resort packages, greening programs for hotels, restaurants, and entertainment areas; installing solar power, using recycled and reused products, and implementing the 3R policy (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle).

These activities are deployed simultaneously at hotels, resorts, convention and exhibition centers inside and outside Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to minimizing impacts on the natural and social environment.

At the corporate level, Saigontourist Group maintains the publication of annual sustainability reports according to GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) international standards, consulting with stakeholders on economic, environmental, social and energy topics. This is a clear demonstration of its commitment to transparency and responsibility to the community.

In the tourism sector, Saigontourist Travel Service Company attaches environmental messages to each product. With the slogan "Every tour sold - a new tree planted", the company regularly organizes tree planting programs in many localities, spreading the spirit of "Green living - Green tourism" to the community.

In 2024, the unit was recognized as Travelife Partner, a leading prestigious international certification for sustainable tourism.

In the accommodation sector, many hotels in the system have won prestigious environmental awards. Majestic Saigon Hotel was awarded the title of "ASEAN Green Hotel 2024-2026". Rex, Grand, New World, Caravelle and Sheraton Saigon hotels were all honored as "Ho Chi Minh City Green Enterprises 2024", affirming the group's perseverance, creativity and responsibility in practicing environmental standards, using resources efficiently and promoting green initiatives.

In the conference - exhibition (MICE) segment, Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) focuses on optimizing operations, especially the air conditioning system, the largest source of energy consumption, to reduce emissions and improve efficiency. The water supply and drainage system is improved in the direction of saving and reusing; the process of classifying waste at source is widely applied. Not only stopping at infrastructure, SECC also coordinates with partners and event organizers to promote green solutions from design, construction to operation, thereby spreading the spirit of sustainable development throughout the entire value chain.

Saigontourist Group is also the first tourism enterprise in Vietnam to apply environmental management processes according to ISO 14001 standards. Since 2006, the group has established the Green Club, creating a forum to exchange experiences, update legal regulations and promote improvements to the environmental management system throughout the system.

With a long-term strategy and a series of key programs, Saigontourist Group not only affirms its pioneering role in developing green tourism in Vietnam but also demonstrates its profound social responsibility, actively contributing to the sustainable development goals of the ASEAN community.

The ASEAN Economic Forum 2025, with the theme "ASEAN Economic Integration in the Age of Growth", is an important event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to ASEAN (July 28, 1995 - July 28, 2025). Within the framework of the forum, the program honors pioneering businesses and entrepreneurs who promote equal business opportunities and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
