NDO - During the Lunar New Year, Phu Quoc International Airport welcomed a record number of international flights, as many Northeast Asian tourists (Korea, Taiwan-China) chose this as their holiday destination.
Accordingly, on the peak day of January 27, Phu Quoc welcomed 39 international flights, on January 25 it welcomed 38 flights, and on the remaining days it reached 30-34 flights.
According to records, on the 2nd and 3rd days of Tet, the international immigration area of Phu Quoc International Airport encountered a congestion of incoming passengers. Many tourists had to wait for many hours to complete immigration procedures.
Tourist Noel Kong Chen Teck (Malaysia) indignantly shared: “I had to queue for more than 2 hours to do the procedures, because it was too crowded and chaotic. I saw a total of 5-6 immigration counters but only 3 counters were open. We understand that today is Lunar New Year, but for the International Airport, it is impossible to have such a break.
My family of 4, including 2 parents and 2 children, but we were separated and could not enter all 4 people at the same time, only 2 people at a time. We have been to Vietnam many times, from Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City,... without any such problem. The customs here got angry when we discussed. Many other people were warned and scolded by immigration officers for taking photos and asked to delete the photos directly.
We think there should be counters for seniors and babies/families. They should manage the queue and not let customers queue up and crowd each other while waiting in line like that.”
