In the first quarter of 2025, the country's aquaculture output reached over 1.11 million tons, up 5.1% over the same period last year, of which fish reached 806,700 tons, up 5.4%; shrimp reached 170,000 tons, up 5.5%; other aquatic products reached 136,900 tons, up 2.5%. In March 2025 alone, aquaculture output reached 421,400 tons, up 5.3% over the same period last year. Some localities with aquaculture output in the first quarter of 2025 increased significantly compared to the same period last year, including: Khanh Hoa increased by 13.4%, Phu Yen by 12.4%, Bac Lieu by 12.2%, Ninh Thuan by 11.9%, Soc Trang by 11.6%, Dong Thap by 10.9%, Long An by 9.2%, Kien Giang by 8.5%, Can Tho by 8.1%.
For pangasius, the harvest output in March 2025 reached 155,800 tons, up 4.5% over the same period last year due to the increase in raw pangasius prices and the expansion of the export market. The output of white-leg shrimp in the month increased compared to the same period last year due to the area of farming reaching harvest time, along with the application of super-intensive white-leg shrimp farming models that bring high economic efficiency, so people and businesses promote farming activities. The output of white-leg shrimp in March 2025 reached 42,800 tons, up 6.8% over the same period last year; the output of black tiger shrimp reached 18,500 tons, up 3.7%.
