Da Nang police ensure absolute safety during DIFF season

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2025 will officially kick off on the evening of May 31, with the theme "Cultural Essence", with a competition between the host team Da Nang and the reigning champion Finland. As the host team and also the "storyteller of light" who has been with DIFF for 14 years, the Da Nang fireworks team (Vietnam 1) with a performance called "Cultural Essence" promises to bring an emotional and proud work of art to international friends on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang City.

The show consists of 4 parts, lasting more than 20 minutes, using thousands of fireworks combined with music , creating a lively symphony of light and sound in the sky over the Han River.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the number of tourists coming to the city during the festival is expected to increase sharply, with room occupancy rates at hotels in the central area, along the Han River and along the coast reaching 88-90%. During the three peak opening days (from May 29 to 31), the total number of flights to Da Nang reached about 433, an increase of 16.71% over the same period last year.

To ensure safety for the Festival and visitors, Da Nang City Police have developed a detailed plan to ensure absolute security and safety for all activities within the framework of DIFF 2025. Specifically, from the afternoon of May 28, Da Nang City Police organized a general rehearsal of plans to ensure security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue.

More than 1,000 officers and soldiers were mobilized, including 400 officers and soldiers from the Central Mobile Police Regiment and the 1st Waterborne Police Division of the Traffic Police Department. The forces were deployed in key areas such as the main stage, shooting range, grandstands, bridges over the Han River and key traffic routes.

This year, the City Police Department has established 8 specialized subcommittees for each task, replacing the previous district-level model. The units operate in a streamlined manner, coordinating smoothly and effectively in the assigned areas. The participating officers and soldiers are required to strictly follow the regulations, maintain etiquette, manners, and behave civilly with the people and tourists. The City Police Department has also established 6 command groups to regularly inspect and remind on-site.

Directly inspecting the scene, Colonel Tran Phong, Deputy Director of the City Police Department, requested the traffic force to grasp the traffic flow plan, ensuring the safe passage of the Party and State leaders to the grandstand area. In particular, coordinate with relevant agencies and units to ensure absolute safety at the location where the fireworks are stored while waiting for installation and at the fireworks display area; strengthen control of vehicles carrying passengers illegally watching fireworks on the river, preventing unsafe situations regarding security and order.

How will the world's "fireworks powerhouses" DIFF 2025 make a breakthrough?

After a year of elaborate preparation, DIFF 2025, co-organized by the Da Nang People's Committee and Sun Group, will open with a grand opening night on the banks of the Han River. For the first time in history, the festival will feature 10 competing teams. Among them are 2 representatives from Vietnam and 8 teams from countries with world-leading fireworks traditions and techniques such as Finland, England, Canada, Italy, South Korea, China, Poland and Portugal.

As the host force, Da Nang Fireworks Team – under the Da Nang People’s Committee – continues to play the role of “main striker” with more than a decade of experience in performing and competing internationally. The team’s biggest mark is the First Prize at GlobalFest (Canada) in 2014 and a series of Third Prizes at DIFF over the years.

Along with that, Team Z121 Vina Pyrotech – belonging to Factory Z121 (General Department of Defense Industry) – will also compete at DIFF for the first time. Although a “rookie” on the international stage, Z121 has nearly 30 years of experience in producing and displaying artistic fireworks, having taken on hundreds of national events. The combination of military technology, discipline and national identity promises to create a big surprise at this year’s DIFF season.

One of the host’s strong competitors is Joho Pyro (Finland) – the reigning champion of DIFF 2024, having won first prize at many European fireworks festivals. With a Nordic style, Joho Pyro brings sophisticated, emotional and artistic fireworks displays.

From the UK, Pyrotex Fireworx returned to Da Nang after winning many high prizes at international events such as Vancouver (Canada) or Feeries Eureliennes (France). The methodical organization combined with modern technology helps Pyrotex always be among the most favorite teams of the audience.

Martarello Group (Italy), two long-standing names in the world fireworks industry, also promise to bring performances with a “Mediterranean flavor”, with a blend of classical techniques and symphonic music.

Macedos Pirotecnia is one of the oldest and most prestigious fireworks teams in Portugal. Founded in 1934 by Joaquim da Silva Macedo, the team has been developing in the fireworks industry for over 90 years. Through generations, traditional craftsmanship combined with modern technology has created a unique mark for Macedos Pirotecnia. This is one of the rare fireworks teams that still maintains the classic craftsmanship while constantly innovating to suit the global market.

Firma Rodzinna – Surex (Poland) stands out with its youthful style, combining rock – symphony music and multi-layered lighting effects. Meanwhile, Faseecom (Korea) brings a new breeze from Asia with a modern performance style, full of technology and high creativity.

It is impossible not to mention Orion Fireworks (Canada) - a team with extensive international experience, specializing in creating fireworks displays with clear, dramatic structures, while applying advanced fireworks technology, bringing a unique visual experience to the audience.

Jiangxi Yangfeng Team from China - a country with a long history of fireworks, the team promises to bring to DIFF 2025 special performances, harmoniously combining traditional art and modern technology. This is one of China's typical representatives in the field of large-scale fireworks displays. Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Fireworks Display was established in 2021 in Jiangxi Province, China. Although still quite young, the company has grown rapidly and currently owns more than 60 experienced technicians and hundreds of modern fireworks equipment. The methodical investment in human resources and technology helps the team form a unique and creative performance style.

DIFF 2025 will take place from May 31 to July 12, 2025, with 6 competition nights every Saturday night. The teams will compete in pairs, with the top 2 teams entering the final round to compete for the championship on the night of July 12. The theme throughout the festival is “Welcoming a New Era”, opening up a message of hope, innovation and global solidarity after the upheavals of the times.
According to the Organizing Committee, the main stage and the stands along the Han River will be the ideal locations to fully enjoy the performance. In addition, people and tourists can also choose Dragon Bridge, Tran Thi Ly Bridge or cruise on the Han River to have a panoramic view, a vibrant atmosphere and many rich experiences.
For the first time in Vietnam, Sky AR technology - the most modern outdoor AR technology today is applied at DIFF 2025 and the DIFF stage has the largest scale with more than 10,200 seats. For the first time, the DIFF 2025 stage is designed on an area of over 1,605 m², more than twice as large as the stage of previous years. This is the stage with the most magnificent scale in DIFF.
