After leaving the Vietnam national team during FIFA Days in March 2025, striker Bui Vi Hao returned to Binh Duong Club to train for matches in the National Cup and V-League 2024-2025.
Bui Vi Hao must rest for 6-8 months due to a torn ankle ligament.
But during the training session on March 27, Vi Hao suffered an injury after trying to dribble the ball. Initially, doctors diagnosed him with a sprained ankle.
But the injury got worse and the young star of the Vietnamese team had to use crutches to walk.
On March 31, when the pain and swelling had subsided, he was able to undergo an MRI scan for a detailed examination. According to the scan results, doctors determined that Bui Vi Hao had torn his ankle ligament.
Binh Duong Club doctor Dang Hieu Hao said: "Vi Hao has a torn ankle ligament. He will undergo surgery this week after completing the procedures. This injury is similar to a knee ligament injury, so it will take Vi Hao 6-8 months to recover."
This means that the striker born in 2003 will have to rest for the rest of the 2024-2025 season.
This is certainly a huge loss for the team from Da Nang because Vi Hao is their second best domestic striker, after Tien Linh.
This is not only a shock to Binh Duong Club but also to the Vietnam team.
With the above injury, Vi Hao will miss the match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
In addition, he is also at risk of missing the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers (September 2025) as well as the 33rd SEA Games (December 2025).
