The collapsed wall section is about 15m long, more than 4m high, built with bricks, the core mixed with clay.
Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, said: "The city's Department of Construction has reviewed and temporarily determined that the wall structure was already weak, combined with prolonged rain and floods that caused the ground to seep deeply, causing landslides and loss of connection to the wall. We promptly barricaded and warned of the dangerous area."
On the morning of November 3, the Department of Construction's Coordination Center conducted a survey and identified many more sections of the neighboring wall showing signs of cracking and leaning inward. Some locations are at risk of further collapse if the heavy rain continues.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center has reported to the City People's Committee and proposed urgent repairs, while studying long-term conservation solutions, including assessing the entire wall to ensure safety and preserve the integrity of important items in the Hue Monuments Complex.
