On August 22, Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Pak District, said that the 2024 Krong Pak District Durian Festival will have 12 special activities, including an auction program for the title "Durian Queen".
According to Ms. Trinh, durians of the Ri6 and Dona varieties will be selected from 31 durian gardens. The auction will take place at the workshop "Building and developing a sustainable durian ecosystem" on the morning of September 1.
In addition to receiving the "queen" durian, the auction winner will also receive a gold-plated durian for display and souvenir. The gold-plated Ri6 durian is worth 50 million VND, and the souvenir Dona durian is worth 70 million VND.

"The district will use all the money from the auction to serve social security for the people," informed the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Pak district.
The 2nd Krong Pak District Durian Festival in 2024 with the theme "Krong Pak Durian - Development and Integration" will be held from August 31 to September 2.
The festival will feature 12 series of activities: Competition for excellent durian farmers; Experience enjoying durian in the garden; Marathon; Street festival; DJ night and light dance; Workshop on building and developing a sustainable durian ecosystem...
Dak Lak province has over 32,000 hectares of durian, of which the pure planting area is about 9,500 hectares and the intercropping area is about 23,000 hectares. This is the province with the second largest durian output in the country, estimated at 280,000 tons.
Krong Pak district alone currently has over 7,000 hectares of durian, with an estimated output of over 92,000 tons this year.
Durian has now risen to the position of "king of fruits" in Vietnam, joining the "billion-dollar" agricultural product group when it brings in an export value of 2.24 billion USD in 2023. Durian exports have contributed significantly to helping the fruit and vegetable industry set a historic record (5.7 billion USD).
