According to information from the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ), this unit has compiled and sent documents of 1,604 growing areas and 314 durian packing facilities to GACC. By May 21, GACC officially updated 829 growing area codes and 131 durian packing facility codes in Vietnam.

Speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hieu - Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection said that these are the new durian growing area and packaging facility codes approved by Chinese Customs.

As of May 21, Vietnam has more than 1,400 durian growing area codes (excluding revoked codes) officially exported to the Chinese market.

According to GACC, the expansion of this list creates favorable conditions for increasing durian exports to the Chinese market. Localities and businesses need to proactively take advantage of the opportunity, while ensuring strict compliance with regulations on plant quarantine and food safety to export sustainably.

In recent years, the area of durian in our country has expanded rapidly, reaching nearly 180,000 hectares. Total durian output has also increased sharply over the years and is estimated to reach over 1.55 million tons by 2025.

However, according to regulations, only durians from growing areas approved by GACC are allowed to be exported to China. Therefore, the approval of new growing area codes for Vietnam by the General Administration of Customs of China also opens up opportunities for us to increase durian exports to this market.

According to the leader of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the market is increasingly demanding, just a small deviation in chemical residue or incorrect traceability can cause the growing area to be suspended, and the enterprise to lose the right to export. Therefore, maintaining each growing area code is no longer an option, but a vital condition to be able to export durian to this billion-people market.
