
At the meeting, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam and Singapore are two dynamic and active members of ASEAN and have a close and trustworthy relationship. The upgrading of the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025 will open a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries.

In the overall bilateral relationship, defense cooperation has achieved very good, comprehensive, and substantive results in many areas such as exchanging delegations at all levels; maintaining defense policy dialogue mechanisms, consultations, and information exchanges; cooperation between military services, security, and maritime safety; training; coordination, and mutual support at multilateral forums.

General Phan Van Giang believes that Vietnam-Singapore defense cooperation will have new, stronger, more substantial and effective steps forward in the coming time. On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang sincerely thanks the Government and people of Singapore for sharing with the Vietnamese people the damage caused by storms, floods and natural disasters.

Ambassador Jaya Ratnam expressed his sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for its support and facilitation during his tenure. The Ambassador emphasized that defense cooperation is an important pillar of bilateral relations and expressed his hope that Singapore and Vietnam will continue to coordinate to promote the existing good relationship to new heights.
