The school stated that in order to comply with Circular 20 and avoid peak hours, reducing traffic congestion in Ho Chi Minh City, the school plans to adjust class schedules: the first class of the morning will start at 6:30 AM, the afternoon at 12:30 PM, and the evening at 6:30 PM. Each class will last 50 minutes.
The new class schedule proposed by Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is as follows:
| The new schedule is tentative. | Current schedule | |
| Shift 1 (morning) | 6:30-9:00 | 7:00-9:15 |
| Shift 2 (morning) | 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM | 9:40-11:55 |
| Shift 3 (afternoon) | 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM | 12:30-14:45 |
| Shift 4 (afternoon) | 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM | 15:10-17:25 |
| Evening | 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM | 6 PM - 9:45 PM |
On online forums, students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade disagree with the proposed class schedule, arguing that adjusting classes to start 30 minutes earlier will not solve the traffic congestion problem in Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, some students also expressed concerns that starting to study too early could affect their sleep and health, especially during the "peak" period of exams and major assignments.
Speaking to Tri Thức - Znews about the planned adjustments to class schedules, Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that the above information is only a preliminary plan.
The school is still surveying students and expects to have preliminary results by October 28th. Only after the specific survey results are available will the school make a final decision.
According to the current timetable, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade arranges each class to last 45 minutes, with 5 minutes between classes for students to move between course modules.
However, recently, the accreditation team from the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation (Vietnam Association of Universities and Colleges) requested that the school organize lessons lasting 50 minutes, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .
Therefore, the school plans to adjust class times to ensure that all lessons are 50 minutes long. Evening classes are also expected to be reduced by 4 periods instead of the current 5.
