SJC will continue to buy dented gold

In recent days, many people holding one-letter gold bars (a series with a letter before the number, produced before 1996) and dented two-letter gold bars are worried because Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) has temporarily stopped buying.

Informing the press about the reason for stopping buying gold bars with two dented letters and one-letter serial numbers, Ms. Le Thuy Hang - General Director of SJC said that in recent days, the company has temporarily stopped buying dented gold bars due to objective reasons.

Currently, the company has arranged resources to reprocess and will continue to purchase dented SJC gold.

According to Ms. Hang, SJC gold bars are produced according to ISO 9001/2015 standards. SJC is always responsible to customers for the quality of gold bars produced by the company. This has been confirmed by the trust of customers over the past nearly 36 years.

For the 1-character gold bars produced by the company before 1996, the company has set aside a period of time for customers to convert to 2-character gold bars without any cost.

Currently, the company still buys 1-character SJC gold bars at the same price as 2-character gold bars. The company will then process 1-character gold into 2-character SJC gold bars to sell to customers.

SJC 1-character and 2-character gold that is dented, warped, or does not meet circulation standards must be reprocessed.

To carry out reprocessing, the company needs to allocate resources and obtain permission from the State Bank.

Ms. Hang also informed that the 1-character SJC gold bar has the same quality and weight as the 2-character SJC gold bar.

But because it was produced before 1996, when the 2-character product was produced, consumers preferred to use 2-character gold.

"Currently, the company no longer sells single-character gold bars, but only purchases them to reprocess into two-character gold bars," Ms. Hang shared.

On the market, on the morning of August 3, the price of SJC gold bars was listed by SJC Company and commercial banks at 79.8 million VND/tael.

On the other hand, SJC and many other businesses such as PNJ, DOJI , Bao Tin Minh Chau increased the buying price of SJC gold bars by 500,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday morning, to 78.3 million VND/tael. The difference between buying and selling prices of gold bars has now narrowed to 1.5 million VND.
