iPhone 17 and iPhone Air battery test results. |
As users increasingly care about battery life on high-end smartphones, the famous technology YouTube channel The Tech Chap has just announced the first real-life battery test results on the iPhone 17 series - including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air.
The test was conducted by continuously playing YouTube videos , combining both Wi-Fi and mobile networks, to simulate daily usage habits. The results showed that all iPhone 17 models achieved impressive battery life, with not too much difference between versions.
Most notably, the iPhone 17 Pro Max – the device achieved an onscreen time of up to 7 hours and 58 minutes, surpassing the 7 hours and 29 minutes of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which was highly rated for its battery. Meanwhile, the smaller version, the iPhone 17 Pro, also surprisingly surpassed its predecessor, the 16 Pro Max.
Meanwhile, the iPhone Air – a new model in a separate product line – also showed commendable battery life, although it did not lead the chart, with 6 hours and 43 minutes of screen-on time. This shows that Apple is increasingly narrowing the gap in battery performance between segments, bringing a more consistent experience to users at different price points.
Of course, this is just the result of a specific test scenario. The actual battery life of the device can still vary significantly, depending on usage habits, screen brightness, network signal quality and many other environmental factors.
During his daily experience, reporter Chance Miller from 9to5Mac shared that the iPhone Air model often needed to be recharged in the late afternoon, before dinner time.
Additionally, it's worth noting that The Tech Chap's battery test primarily revolves around playing YouTube videos, which is a relatively light task that doesn't put much stress on the A19 Pro chip on the iPhone Air.
As iPhone 17 models become more widely available, there will undoubtedly be more detailed reviews of real-world battery life, especially the iPhone Air's mixed-use performance in everyday conditions.
