In recent days, the number of children with hand, foot and mouth disease in Hai Duong who have to be hospitalized for treatment has increased.
Báo Hải Dương•27/05/2025
From May 1 to 26, Hai Duong Children's Hospital received nearly 100 children with hand, foot and mouth disease for inpatient treatment, while in the first 4 months of 2025, only 28 children with this disease had to be treated as inpatients. The number of children with hand, foot and mouth disease accounts for more than 50% of the total number of children with infectious diseases requiring inpatient treatment. The children who were assigned to inpatient treatment all had severe symptoms that could easily lead to complications such as high fever above 38.5 degrees Celsius and lasting more than 2 days, startled sleep, staggering, shaking hands and feet, convulsions, and watery rash all over the body... According to doctors from the Department of Infectious Diseases (Hai Duong Children's Hospital), the increase in hand, foot and mouth disease at this time is relatively unusual because this disease often appears frequently and spreads quickly in winter and spring. Children with hand, foot and mouth disease are mainly under 5 years old. Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent hand, foot and mouth disease and no specific treatment. Treatment is mainly symptomatic treatment and improving the child's resistance. The effective way to prevent hand, foot and mouth disease is to practice the “3 cleans” (clean eating, clean living, clean hands).
