Pursuant to Decision No. 689/QD-CTN dated April 23, 2025 of the President on giving gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Soc Trang province has nearly 8,000 people receiving gifts according to this decision.

The recipients of the gifts are people with revolutionary contributions: people who participated in the revolution before January 1, 1945 and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; people who participated in the revolution from January 1, 1945 to the August 1945 uprising and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; People's Armed Forces Heroes and Labor Heroes during the resistance war and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; war invalids, people who enjoy policies like war invalids, war invalids of type B, and sick soldiers who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; people who participated in the resistance war and were infected with toxic chemicals and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; people who contributed to the revolution and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; people who participated in the revolution, the resistance war, protected the Fatherland, and performed international duties and were captured and imprisoned by the enemy and are receiving monthly preferential allowances.
In addition, gifts are given to relatives of people with revolutionary contributions, including: relatives of martyrs receiving monthly allowances; relatives of two or more martyrs receiving monthly allowances; representatives of martyrs' relatives; and people who worship martyrs (in case the martyrs have no relatives).
The gift level for the two above-mentioned groups is 500,000 VND/person, which will be paid once on April 30, 2025. The cost ofthe President 's gift is guaranteed by the central budget according to the provisions of Point a, Clause 14, Article 170 of Decree No. 131/2021/ND-CP on detailed regulations and measures to implement the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Revolutionary Contributions.
In addition, from the local budget, Soc Trang also presented many gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and families with meritorious services on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Specifically, the Standing Committee of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee established 11 delegations to visit and present gifts to pre-uprising cadres, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and families with meritorious services who directly participated in the liberation of the South in the province in 11 districts, towns, and cities in the province, each locality presented 15 gifts.
In addition, on April 25, 2025, Soc Trang province also organized a meeting of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee with veterans, former youth volunteers, and revolutionary soldiers who were captured and imprisoned by the enemy. On April 29, 2025, Soc Trang province organized a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); organized a delegation to visit the provincial martyrs' cemetery (Tra Men area and My Xuyen area). On the evening of April 28, 2025, the Standing Committee of the Soc Trang Provincial Youth Union will organize a candlelighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the provincial martyrs' cemetery. In addition, localities also organized many delegations to visit and present gifts to families with meritorious services.
