(Dan Tri) - Regarding the famous specialized school project in Nghe An that has invested nearly 100 billion VND but is left unfinished, Nghe An province will arrange funds to complete it as soon as possible.
On October 29, leaders of the Nghe An Departmentof Education and Training had a meeting with Dan Tri reporters about the Phan Boi Chau High School project. This project has been invested nearly 100 billion VND but is currently abandoned. After Dan Tri newspaper reported, Nghe An provincial leaders directed relevant units to continue implementing the project as soon as possible.
According to the leaders of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the province has directed strongly to speed up the project progress. Phase 1 has been completed with full site clearance. The province also requested the construction unit to clean up the campus and committed to arranging funding to complete phase 2 within the next 2-3 years.
Mr. Nguyen Mau Luong, Director of the Nghe An Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the construction drawing design documents are being completed for appraisal at the Department of Construction.
It is expected that the bidding to select the project construction unit will be held in December if funding is allocated. The investor is coordinating with the Vinh City People's Committee to approve the detailed compensation plan for site clearance in 2024.
In 2018, the People's Committee of Nghe An province approved the project to build a new Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted with an area of 85,233m2, including classrooms, functional rooms, a library, and a system of stairs and corridors. Phase 1 was completed in 2022 with a total capital of 95 billion VND.
In 2023, the Nghe An Provincial People's Council issued a resolution to invest in phase 2 with a budget of more than 101 billion VND. This phase includes the construction of the school's headquarters, dining hall, student dormitory, fire prevention and fighting systems, transformer stations, and underground water tanks. However, phase 2 has not yet been implemented.
On October 29, Mr. Bui Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, responded in writing to Dan Tri newspaper on this issue.
Mr. Long assigned the Department of Education and Training and the Project Management Board to review the project implementation status and find solutions to ensure quality, and report before November 20.
At the same time, the Department of Planning and Investment was assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and sectors to comprehensively review key projects in the education sector, in order to advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct and have solutions to promote investment efficiency.
