On the afternoon of November 6, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An organized the 80th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam's Agriculture and Environment Sector (November 14, 1945 - November 14, 2025), through which we reviewed the emotional ups and downs, with many hardships, many challenges but full of pride.

Turning back time, on November 14, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the Decree establishing the Ministry of Agriculture, officially opening a new chapter for Vietnam's agricultural sector. Throughout that long history, Nghe An's Agriculture and Environment sector has been a bright brushstroke, standing out in the midst of a shimmering, colorful picture.
At the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Director of Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment, affirmed that the 80-year journey of formation and development of the industry is closely linked to the history of revolution and the cause of building the homeland and the country. Each period has its own difficulties, challenges and opportunities.

From the years of war (1945 - 1954), to the process of building socialism (1954 - 1975), efforts to overcome the consequences of war, ready to push back poverty (1975 - 2000), and then integration when agriculture is the pillar of the economy, the environment is the pillar of sustainable development (2000 to present). In any context, any period, the Agriculture and Environment sector has shown its role, its strong mark, truly the pulse of society.
The sweet fruit is crystallized from the orientation of the Party and State; from the close direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Nghe An province; the dedication, efforts, and intelligence of generations of leaders; the companionship of businesses, and above all, the trust of millions of farmers.
On March 1, 2025, the historic mission was continued when the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment was officially established on the basis of merging the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
Director Hoang Quoc Viet emphasized that this is a turning point, a strategic orientation towards a green, modern agriculture associated with responding to natural disasters and climate change. At the same time, it is necessary to do a good job of managing and using natural resources effectively and reasonably, combining environmental and ecological protection:

“Over the years, the Nghe An Agriculture and Environment sector has always demonstrated its role as a pillar of the economy. This is a proud achievement when placed in the context of difficulties surrounding it. Reality shows that natural disasters are frequent and epidemics are widespread, but the agricultural sector still stands firm and is still the mainstay of people's lives. Meanwhile, the environment is increasingly preserved, which is the driving force for long-term development goals. Looking at the broader picture, the basic indicators of the sector have all been achieved and exceeded, which is something to be proud of.”
From the practical results, the head of Nghe An Agriculture and Environment Department concluded: “The 80-year journey has been maintained and continued by golden harvests, an epic that continues the tradition to the present. From that foundation, we confidently embark on a new journey, the journey of creating a modern agriculture, a civilized countryside, a sustainable environment, worthy of the stature and tradition of President Ho Chi Minh's homeland”.
