Recognize the symptoms of dengue fever

According to the Ministry of Health , recently, the dengue fever situation in the world continues to increase and become complicated due to favorable environmental conditions for disease vectors, increasing urbanization, and population movement, making it difficult to control the source of disease transmission.

In the country, during the epidemic season, the number of cases tends to increase the most from May to November every year, so proactively implementing preventive measures before the epidemic season is very important.

Accordingly, in order to promptly implement disease prevention measures, prevent outbreaks, and minimize the number of infections and deaths, the Ministry of Health requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to issue plans and organize activities in response to the 15th ASEAN Dengue Prevention Day (June 15, 2025).

Proactively communicate dengue fever prevention before the epidemic season and implement practical activities, promote the role of authorities, departments, branches, organizations and people to actively participate in dengue fever prevention and control.

Assign specific responsibilities to authorities at all levels to direct and mobilize departments, branches, political and social organizations to coordinate with the health sector to implement the campaign to destroy mosquito larvae, ensuring that all households in epidemic and at-risk areas must have their water tanks, containers, utensils, waste, and mosquito breeding grounds inspected and monitored to carry out methods to destroy mosquito larvae.

At the same time, direct the Department of Health to closely monitor the thorough handling of dengue fever outbreaks in the locality. Organize chemical spraying in 100% of households in the outbreak area.

In addition, coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to mobilize students to participate in cleaning and eliminating mosquito larvae in residential areas and schools; assess the epidemic situation to propose proactive disease prevention measures.

Implement propaganda activities to prevent dengue fever, diversify communication activities so that people understand and proactively implement measures to prevent dengue fever such as: turning unused water containers upside down, killing mosquito larvae/wigglers, using mosquito nets, preventing mosquito bites...

Communicate about the signs of dengue fever and instruct people not to self-treat at home when they get sick, but to go to a medical facility immediately for timely examination and treatment. Focus on communicating before and during mosquito/larva eradication campaigns and mosquito spraying campaigns so that people know and cooperate.

The Ministry of Health also requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct medical examination and treatment facilities to organize the admission and treatment of patients well, minimizing deaths due to dengue fever, especially at private medical examination and treatment facilities, to avoid the situation where patients do not receive timely consultation, emergency care, treatment and referral.

At the same time, there is a plan to allocate treatment routes and support lower levels to avoid hospital overload.
