Last night, Real Madrid secured an impressive 3-1 victory against Pachuca in Group H of the FIFA Club World Cup. In this match, Los Blancos were reduced to 10 men after center-back Raul Asencio was sent off in the 7th minute. However, they still dominated the game and scored three goals through Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Federico Valverde.

However, Real Madrid's joy was somewhat dampened when center-back Antonio Rudiger accused defender Gustavo Cabral (Pachuca) of racist behavior.
Accordingly, Cabral was accused of calling Rudiger by the racially derogatory Spanish phrase: “negro de mierda” (roughly translated: damn black bastard). However, after the match, Cabral denied the accusation and claimed that he only called Rudiger “cagón de mierda” (roughly translated: damn coward).
Although referee Abatti Abel did not issue a card to Cabral, he did make a gesture of raising his arm diagonally across his chest. According to FIFA regulations, this gesture activates the anti-racism protocol, a new measure implemented from 2024. This confirms that FIFA will continue to investigate the incident.
This action is the first step in a three-step response to discriminatory behavior on the pitch. Specifically, step 1 is to issue a warning and potentially pause the game to assess the situation. Steps 2 and 3 allow the referee to stop the game for a longer period or even cancel the game if the behavior is not controlled.

After the match, coach Xabi Alonso expressed his support for Rudiger: “Rudiger says he was subjected to racist abuse. We believe him. FIFA will continue its investigation. It was unacceptable.”
Real Madrid insists they believe Rudiger's accusations and will pursue the case to the end. Following their victory against Pachuca, Los Blancos have the same 4 points as Salzburg and are 2 points ahead of Al Hilal. In their final match on June 26th, Real Madrid will face Salzburg.
