Adjusting program standards, the minimum score for the semiconductor industry will be lowered.

After the Ministry of Education and Training revised the training program standards for semiconductor microchips at university and master's levels, the minimum entrance score for semiconductor microchip majors this year will be significantly lowered.

Today, July 22, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 2101/QD-BGDDT amending the training program standards on semiconductor microchips at the undergraduate and master's levels with the content of changing the input requirements for the semiconductor microchip industry. Thanks to that, the floor score for semiconductor microchip industries this year will be significantly lowered.

According to Decision 2101, candidates admitted to the bachelor's and engineering training program on semiconductor microchips must be graduates. If they are high school graduates, the admission subject group must include mathematics, and at least one subject in natural science suitable for the semiconductor microchip program.

In addition, candidates are in the group of 25% of candidates with the highest combined scores in the admission exam nationwide and in the group of 20% of candidates with the highest math scores nationwide (data published annually by the Ministry of Education and Training).

According to the current Semiconductor Microchip Training Program Standards for undergraduate and master's levels (unrevised), the entrance standard of the training program for bachelors and engineers is that candidates must have a minimum of 8 points in math and the total score of three subjects in the admission combination must be at least 24/30 points.

Thanh Nien Newspaper's analysis of 2025 high school graduation exam scores shows that the whole country only has 42,624 candidates who achieved 24 points or more in all three combinations A00, A01, D07 (which are popular combinations with math and at least one natural science subject). That is, it accounts for less than 10% of the total number of candidates who took the combination exam with both math and at least one natural science subject.

With the above adjustment of the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's floor score for semiconductor majors may decrease to 21 points (corresponding to a recruitment source of 106,191 candidates).
