Heavy rain causes flooding and landslides in many localities in northern Quang Tri

In Ninh Chau commune, as of 4 p.m. on November 3, 1,800 households had their houses flooded, concentrated in the villages of Huu Tan, The Loc, Quang Xa, Hoa Binh , Nguyet Ang, and Hien Vinh. Many roads in the commune were deeply flooded, such as: My Trung road to The Loc village was flooded 1.2m; main roads in Nguyet Ang village were flooded 1.2m; main roads in Huu Tan village were flooded 1-1.2m; road 564B section passing through Quang Xa village was flooded 0.9m...

Chairman of Ninh Chau Commune People's Committee Le Ngoc Huan said that the Ninh Chau Commune Civil Defense Command has proactively prepared a plan to evacuate and relocate people when situations arise; functional forces and local organizations always maintain a state of combat readiness, closely monitor weather developments, regularly update information and coordinate to deploy timely response measures to ensure people's safety.

Currently, heavy rains over a large area have affected the daily life and recovery work of local people, especially in deep flooded and low-lying areas. The Commune Disaster Prevention and Control Committee has prepared a response plan, mobilized boats, and prepared necessities to support people in deep flooded areas and some low-lying areas.

In Truong Son commune, the large amount of water flowing from upstream of rivers and streams caused flooding of roads leading to villages such as Doc May, Ploang, Rin Rin, Trung Son, Hang Chuon-Na Lam, Khe Day, Rao Da and landslides occurred at 5 points in Kim Sen village along Long Dai river with a total length of about 100-120m, depth of 11m-12m, width of 6-7m.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Truong Son Commune, Hoang Manh Ha, said that the Commune's Disaster Prevention and Control Command has directed agencies, units, villages, and shock teams to be on duty 24/7; organize inspections of points at risk of landslides, flooding of underground bridges and flash floods; regularly update weather developments and timely forecasts to inform relevant villages and units in the commune.

The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Truong Son Commune assigned the Commune Police, the Commune Military Command, units, organizations, and villages to arrange forces to be ready to support and respond promptly when incidents occur; at the same time, be ready to coordinate and mobilize forces, means, and equipment among the people to serve the work of preventing and fighting storms and heavy rains. Currently, Truong Son Commune has organized the evacuation of 50 households in areas at high risk of flooding in 6 villages and hamlets in the area.
