The special attraction of soldiers training hard on the training ground

Air defense, air force, engineers, special forces... are three of the many core military forces of Vietnam, participating in training day and night, ready to fight.

Belonging to the spearhead and elite forces, each soldier must have good physical strength, agility, intelligence, courage and high martial arts skills.

The Air Defense - Air Force is one of the core military units carrying out the task of protecting the airspace of the Fatherland. Images of the mid-August days at Hoa Lac Airport (Air Force Regiment 916, Air Force Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force), flight crews participated in the air search and rescue competition. The competition aims to test the qualifications and capabilities of pilots and air search and rescue forces of helicopter air force units in organizing and carrying out air search and rescue missions.

Two months ago, the Air Defense - Air Force organized a tactical exercise with live fire of the air defense force in 2024, with the participation of 6 air defense divisions at the National Shooting Range Region 1 ( Bac Giang ) and missile and anti-aircraft artillery forces.

The competition includes a theoretical and practical part of air rescue. The practical part requires flight crews and air search and rescue teams to practice flying to pick up victims. Each group and team performs the lifting of 300kg and 150kg on a Mi-171 aircraft.

Battalion 172, Regiment 64, Division 361 (Air Defense - Air Force) is the unit directly responsible for protecting the airspace of Noi Bai airport ( Hanoi ). The unit is equipped with the A89 missile system (9K35 Strela-10), known as the "killer" of low-altitude targets.

Regular drills are held to improve the command, action, and operation skills of officers and soldiers. In addition to theoretical training, the unit also trains officers and soldiers in psychology and physical strength to improve the soldiers' adaptability in all weather conditions.

The 409th Tank Brigade (Military Region 1) is one of the units equipped with the improved T-54B tank. Officers and soldiers of the 409th Tank Brigade quickly mastered this type of equipment and participated in many exercises.

Captain Nguyen Duc Tung, Captain of Company 3, Battalion 1, Tank Brigade 409 (right) shared that at first, officers and soldiers also encountered certain difficulties when getting used to the new equipment. However, with much effort and determination, after a short time, they mastered this type of equipment, successfully conducting many drills.

The 93rd Battalion, the Corps of Engineers, is considered a “special engineer” unit, both training and ready for combat, and participating in rescue operations, especially in overcoming the consequences of collapsed structures. The main job of the engineers is to detect and clear mines and rescue victims in case of fire or bombing.

In addition to combat training according to the general program, soldiers at Battalion 93 also have tasks of anti-riot, anti-terrorism, disaster mitigation, search and rescue. In early February 2023, the earthquake disaster occurred in Türkiye, causing thousands of casualties and huge damage to infrastructure. Together with professional rescue forces from many countries and international organizations, Vietnamese Engineer soldiers quickly marched to this Islamic country to carry out an unprecedented special mission.

The 113th Special Forces Brigade (Special Forces) is also one of many military units that regularly organize training to increase combat mobility and technical and tactical skills for officers and soldiers of the "Anti-Terrorism Team" - one of the "special elite" forces.

The Brigade has been honored by the Party and State with many Military Exploit Medals, War Exploit Medals, Fatherland Protection Medals, and 6 collectives and 12 individuals have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. In particular, the Brigade has been honored by the Party and State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces three times.

In the Special Forces of the Vietnam People's Army, in addition to male soldiers, there are many female soldiers serving in brigades and basic units. Through difficult, high-intensity training exercises in harsh conditions, the female soldiers of the Special Forces have become very strong and resilient. The beautiful female special forces soldiers not only have good physical strength, endurance, and flexibility, but even their courage and spirit seem to have turned to steel.

Border Guard Intermediate School 24 (Ba Vi, Hanoi) - the only place to train military service dogs, since its establishment in 1959, has expanded from two training specialties of combat dogs and target guarding dogs to include: Combat dogs; drug detection; explosive detection; search and rescue and dogs to identify sources of odor to support criminal investigations.
