The United Nations warned on November 12 that the civil war in Sudan continues to inflict "severe violence and suffering" on millions of civilians in the Northeast African nation.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on November 12, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Rosemarie DiCarlo emphasized that Sudan is "trapped in a nightmare" by recent atrocities that have caused massive civilian casualties.
In addition, Ms. DiCarlo condemned the continuous attacks by the RSF and SAF forces on densely populated areas and called on the warring parties in Sudan to cease fire to protect civilians.
According to Ramesh Rajasingham, Director of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), food insecurity is widespread in this war-torn country.
In the Darfur and Khartoum regions, thousands have died and malnutrition rates are rising, especially among children.
Therefore, Rajasingham called for promoting a "humanitarian ceasefire" agreement to bring aid to conflict zones, while urging the international community to provide flexible financial support for relief efforts and promote a ceasefire agreement.
However, despite international efforts to promote peace negotiations, both the RSF and SAF continued to escalate their military activities.
Since the conflict in Sudan erupted in April 2003, at least 20,000 people have been killed and more than 33,000 others injured. Furthermore, the conflict has caused the world's worst displacement crisis, with over 11 million people forced to leave their homes and 3 million fleeing to neighboring countries.
