From morning to afternoon of December 3, the sky in Ho Chi Minh City was gloomy, without sunshine, with showers and fog appearing in many places. This is the second consecutive day of dense fog appearing in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Forecasting Department, Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the prolonged fog phenomenon was due to showers, high humidity, and light winds causing the fog to dissipate slowly.
Explaining in more detail, Mr. Quyet said that currently cold air is diffusing to the South, causing the temperature to decrease. In addition, a low pressure trough is currently forming over the southern sea. This low pressure trough has areas of moisture convergence, creating quite high humidity in the air. In the early morning, most of the southern provinces have humidity above 80%.

"The fog that lasted for a long time like yesterday is a normal phenomenon, not a dangerous weather condition. This fog will continue for a few more days, then it will end. From now until the end of the year, in January and February, there is still a possibility of some days with similar fog whenever the cold air is strong," Mr. Quyet said.
The end of the year is also the time when fog often appears, so experts recommend that people wear masks when going out to prevent respiratory diseases.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces and cities in the South are experiencing unseasonal rain. The Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that from December 8-10, this rain will gradually decrease, in the South there will be mainly no rain or only rain in some places with small amounts that are almost insignificant. The lowest temperature will decrease, at night and early morning it will be cold. The highest temperature is from 30-33 degrees Celsius; the lowest is 20-23 degrees Celsius, in the North of the East 19-20 degrees Celsius.
During the remaining days of December, the weather in the region is mainly influenced by the southern edge of the strong cold high pressure tongue. The northeast wind dominates the region with moderate to strong intensity. The weather in the region is generally less rainy, with cool weather at night and early morning. Some days have light fog in the early morning.
