Collecting, researching and restoring traditional Belgian duets

On December 24, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to report on the results of collecting, researching, restoring and preserving the traditional Bi Doi music of the Muong people in Da Bac district. Attending the conference were leaders of a number of departments, agencies, the People's Committee of Da Bac district and Bi Doi trumpet artisans of Da Bac district.

Delegates watched a documentary about the crafting techniques and performance art of the double trumpet of the Muong people in Da Bac district.

Delegates listened to a summary report on the results of collecting and documenting the cultural heritage of the crafting techniques and the performing art of the double trumpet of the Muong people in Da Bac district; screened a documentary film on the results of collecting and documenting the cultural heritage of the crafting techniques and the performing art of the double trumpet and listened to artisans introduce and perform the double trumpet.

The Bi Doi trumpet is a unique musical instrument of the Muong people in Da Bac district. The Bi Doi is called by the Muong people as Pi Toi, Pi Doi. The Muong people in Da Bac district use the Bi Doi trumpet in occasions of entertainment, festivals, and in moments of self-reflection after hard work. The Bi Doi trumpet has become an indispensable musical instrument, forming the soul of the Muong people in the Da Bac highlands. With efforts to preserve and promote the cultural heritage values of ethnic minorities in the province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has collected, researched and restored methods of finding materials, methods of making and teaching the Bi Doi musical instrument with the goal of preserving and promoting cultural values associated with activities to promote the local image, develop tourism services, and develop the local economy , culture and society in a synchronous manner.

The organization of surveys and research has great significance, and is also an important content in implementing the tasks of the Project to preserve the cultural heritage values of the Muong ethnic group and the " Hoa Binh Culture". Thereby continuing to affirm the position, role and great significance of traditional musical instruments in the cultural life of the Muong people. At the same time, continue to widely propagate the importance and significance of preserving and promoting the value of the traditional Bi Doi musical instrument of the Muong people, raising awareness of all levels, sectors and the social community about preserving cultural heritage.

At the conference, representatives of departments, branches, Da Bac district and artisans contributed their opinions on the results of collection, documentation and measures to preserve and promote the cultural heritage value of the double trumpet. Through collection, research, documents and scientific arguments were analyzed to further clarify the role and value of traditional musical instruments of the Muong ethnic group in Hoa Binh province; recommending orientations and solutions to contribute to preserving heritage in the life of the Muong people in the context of global integration taking place today.
