The scene of a particularly serious traffic accident that killed two people at km332+50 of Mai Son Expressway - National Highway 45 (section through Dong Tien Commune, Trieu Son District, Thanh Hoa Province) on the morning of April 23.
According to information from the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, in April 2025 (from March 15 to April 14), there were 1,568 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 860 people and injuring 1,062 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 439 fewer cases (21.87%), 20 fewer deaths (2.27%), and 449 fewer injuries (29.72%).
Of which, traffic accidents mainly occurred on roads with 1,552 cases, killing 848 people and injuring 1,059 people. Compared to the same period last year, there were 439 fewer cases (22.05%), 21 fewer deaths (2.42%), and 450 fewer injuries (29.82%).
There were 9 railway accidents, killing 5 people and injuring 2 people, down 3 accidents (25%), down 4 deaths (44.44%), the number of injured people remained unchanged compared to the same period last year. There were 5 waterway accidents, killing 3 people and injuring 1 person, up 1 accident (25%), up 1 death (50%), up 1 injury compared to the same period last year. There were 2 maritime accidents, killing 4 people and injuring no one, while in April 2024 there were no maritime accidents.
In April 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received 28 mandatory safety reports, with 8 level D incidents occurring, an increase of 1 incident compared to the same period in 2024. There were 4 incidents caused by technical failure of the aircraft, 4 incidents caused by human factors (pilots).
Thus, in the 4 months of 2025 (from December 15, 2024 to April 14, 2025), there were 6,328 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 3,475 people and injuring 4,248 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there was a decrease of 2,274 cases (26.44%), a decrease of 235 deaths (6.33%), and a decrease of 2,452 injuries (36.6%).
The analysis data shows that there were 6,267 road accidents, killing 3,430 people and injuring 4,239 people, a decrease of 2,266 accidents (26.56%), a decrease of 235 deaths (6.41%), and a decrease of 2,451 injuries (36.64%) compared to the first 4 months of 2024.
There were 39 railway accidents, killing 26 people and injuring 7 people, down 10 accidents (20.41%), down 10 deaths (27.78%), down 1 injury (12.5%). There were 20 waterway accidents, killing 15 people and injuring 2 people, up 2 accidents (11.11%), up 6 deaths (66.67%). There were 2 maritime accidents, killing 4 people and injuring no one, compared to the same period the number of accidents and injuries remained unchanged, up 4 deaths and missing people.
According to statistics in the 4 months of 2025 (from December 16, 2024 to April 15, 2025), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received 95 mandatory safety reports, 24 level D incidents and 71 level E incidents occurred, no accidents, serious level B incidents, level C incidents occurred. There were 13 incidents due to technical failure of aircraft, 11 incidents due to human (9 due to flight crew, 1 due to technical staff, 1 due to flight crew and technical staff).
