Why does coach Kiatisak want Hanoi Police Club to strengthen its forces?

The 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship has officially launched and the draw for the group stage was held in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam's representatives participating in this "Southeast Asian Cup C1" are Hanoi Police Club (2023 V-League champion) and Thanh Hoa Club (2023 National Cup champion).

Regarding the tournament, Coach Kiatisak shared: "As representatives of Vietnam, we will try our best to compete well. We will soon prepare and put our expectations on this tournament. This is the first time the tournament has been held and it will bring great benefits to the development of Southeast Asian football."

When asked about the Hanoi Police Club's plans to prepare for the Southeast Asian Club Championship, the former striker of the Thai national team said: "Of course, we will strengthen our squad. The teams participating in this tournament all have many quality national and foreign players, especially Buriram United. Hanoi Police Club still has many good players, but that is not enough. We must have two squads to serve the V-League and this tournament."

In the current V-League, besides Nam Dinh Club, Hanoi Police Club is the team with the strongest squad. Coach Kiatisak has many players wearing the national team jersey and foreign players are also very high quality.

According to the draw results, the two winning teams in the play-off match will be in Group A with the participation of Thanh Hoa Club and Pathum United (Thailand), Terenganu FC (Malaysia), PSM Makassar FC (Indonesia).

Group B includes Hanoi Police Club, Buriram United FC (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur City FC (Malaysia), Borneo FC Samarinda (Indonesia), Kaya FC - Iioilo (Philippines) and Lion Sailors FC (Singapore).

The 2024-2025 AFF Club Championship will take place from 17.7.2024 to 21.5.2025. Teams will play a home/away round-robin in the group stage to determine rankings. The first and second place teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals and then the final.
