Strengthening forest protection on the border of Nhu Xuan - Nghe An

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Nhu Xuan district has 56,765.7 hectares of forest and forestry land, of which over 10,000 hectares of forest area bordering Quy Chau and Nghia Dan districts (Nghe An). In recent times, the coordination of forest protection (BVR) and forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR) between the two sides has achieved many important results, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

Nhu Xuan Forest Protection Department regularly coordinates with Quy Chau and Nghia Dan Forest Protection Departments ( Nghe An ) in forest protection and fire prevention work in border areas.

Vice Director of the Forest Protection Department of Nhu Xuan, Chung Van Chi, said: The forest area bordering Nhu Xuan - Nghe An is 91km long, mainly located in remote areas, with complex and rugged mountainous terrain, divided by rivers and streams. Currently, this area is still rich in forest resources, while the lives of people working in the forest in the border area are still facing many difficulties, the rate of poor households is still high, so there is a potential risk of illegal logging and forest encroachment. Implementing the Coordination Regulation No. 01/QCPH-LH dated January 13, 2017 on coordination in managing forest protection and fire prevention in the border areas between Nghia Dan and Quy Chau districts (Nghe An province) and Nhu Xuan district, Nhu Xuan Forest Protection Department has closely coordinated with Nghia Dan Forest Protection Department, Quy Chau Forest Protection Department (Nghe An Forest Protection Sub-Department) to proactively advise the border communes to promote propaganda and mobilize people and forest owners to strengthen inspection, control, and effectively prevent illegal encroachment and exploitation of forest products; regularly meet, exchange experiences, support each other in forest protection and fire prevention, maintain communication and conduct monthly meetings; coordinate to build many effective forest protection and fire prevention models. Deploy a number of models such as: "3 no" residential areas on forest protection, economic development model from forests, chainsaw management model; build forest protection and fire prevention teams. Along with that, the forest rangers increased coordination in patrolling and BVR.

Since the beginning of 2024, the forest rangers have coordinated with local authorities to organize 22 forest security patrols and inspections, with 118 participants; 3 joint propaganda sessions in 3 border villages, with nearly 300 participants. Regularly exchange information on the situation of illegal exploitation, trading, and transportation of forest products; coordinate in handling the transportation of forest products from Nghe An to Thanh Hoa and vice versa. The forest security situation in the border area of ​​Nhu Xuan district with districts of Nghe An province is basically stable; the risk of forest fires is controlled, encroachment and encroachment have been limited to the lowest level, there are no hotspots for illegal exploitation, deforestation, hunting of animals, trading, and transportation of forest products. Awareness of forest protection, forest fire prevention and control and forestry economic development among people in border areas has been raised, people are increasingly conscious of forest protection, forest fire prevention and control.

In order to protect and prevent forest fires in the forest area bordering Nhu Xuan - Nghe An, in the coming time, the two sides will continue to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and dissemination of the Forestry Law to all classes of people, especially people living along the forest; further enhance the responsibility of forest owners for forest fire prevention and control; strengthen coordination, information gathering, information exchange, patrolling, forest security inspection, ensuring that all violations are detected, prevented and handled promptly at the root. Party committees, authorities, and mass organizations will take drastic action, in which local forest rangers will advise localities to effectively implement Directive No. 13-CT/TW dated January 12, 2017 of the Secretariat on strengthening the leadership of the Party in forest management, protection and development, thereby strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees over local authorities, agencies, departments and branches in forest management, protection and development. Strictly implementing the two-way information system, local forest rangers proactively build and plant information among the people to detect locations, exploitation objects; routes, means of transport, report to local Party committees, authorities and heads of forest rangers to solve the problem at the root, not letting it spread to hotspots...

Thanks to the good coordination of forest protection and fire prevention in the border area of ​​Nhu Xuan - Nghe An, over the past years, forest security here has had many positive changes, and the ethnic people here are increasingly aware of forest protection and fire prevention.
