Strengthen patrol and control work to restore urban order

ĐNO - Faced with the situation of encroachment on sidewalks and roads for trading and illegal parking in crowded areas and tourist spots, many localities in the city have simultaneously launched campaigns to increase patrols and control urban order. Thereby, gradually restoring discipline, ensuring clear roads and sidewalks for people and tourists to travel.

Tables, chairs, drinking water, and styrofoam containers were hidden by many people in bushes, crevices, or drainage ditches along the roadside so they could continue operating when the forces withdrew.

Observations at Son Tra Peninsula (Hoang Sa road section from Ho Xanh - Intercontinental Hotel) show that between 9-10 am and 3-6 pm, many street vendors gather at locations such as: the parking area on Hoang Sa road south of Linh Ung Pagoda, the parking area near the forest ranger station, and the coconut grove area near the Intercontinental Da Nang resort.

Street vendors and mobile food carts along the road leading to Son Tra Peninsula are affecting traffic safety, causing environmental pollution, and disrupting urban aesthetics and order. Some vendors even bring tables and chairs to serve customers who want to eat and drink right on Son Tra Peninsula.

In response to this situation, the Son Tra Ward Public Service Center has launched a campaign to patrol, monitor, and strictly handle cases of violations.

Mr. Phan Phu Anh, Specialist in Urban Order at the Son Tra Ward Public Service Center, said that the unit maintains regular and continuous patrols, especially focusing on peak hours in the morning and evening.

This is the time when street vending on tourist routes, especially Hoang Sa Street, becomes particularly problematic.

Each operation involves the coordinated efforts of police, militia, and the Urban Order Team to closely inspect and promptly handle violations, ensuring the maintenance of urban order and safety for tourists.

However, in reality, street vendors often take advantage of the complex terrain on Son Tra Peninsula to evade authorities. When they spot law enforcement, many flee, leaving behind their goods.

Many even hid tables, chairs, water bottles, and Styrofoam containers in bushes, ravines, or roadside drainage ditches to continue their activities once the authorities withdrew.

In cases where violations are caught red-handed, the team resolutely draws up a report on the spot, confiscates all evidence, and handles the case according to regulations, without any leniency.

“The hotspots for urban order violations in the ward are mainly concentrated in markets and tourist spots. This creates considerable pressure on the force given the large area after the merger. However, the unit always maintains regular patrols, coordinating closely with inter-agency forces, both strictly enforcing regulations and raising awareness so that residents and tourists understand and work together to build a civilized, clean, and beautiful image of Son Tra,” Mr. Anh shared.

Not only Son Tra ward, but many other localities in the city are also actively increasing patrols, inspections, and strictly handling violations.

Many campaign plans are developed on a regular basis, linking the responsibility of local authorities to the results of implementation.

Notably, the People's Committee of Hoa Cuong Ward has implemented a comprehensive range of solutions, determined to restore urban order and ensure clear roads and sidewalks in the area, focusing on addressing urban order hotspots in the area surrounding the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market at the end of August.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Than, Deputy Director of the Public Service Supply Center of Hoa Cuong Ward, said that ensuring urban order is considered a regular and continuous task.

The center has issued specific plans on a monthly and quarterly basis, clearly assigning responsibilities to each force; and regularly checks and evaluates results to learn from experience and adjust methods for greater effectiveness.

Over the past period, the local authorities have focused on addressing and re-establishing urban order in the Hoa Cuong wholesale market area. Initial results show that many main roads have been cleared, sidewalks have been returned to pedestrians, and localized traffic congestion has been reduced.

Through propaganda, mobilization, and signing of commitments, people's awareness of compliance has also improved significantly.

"

In the coming period, the locality will continue to strengthen propaganda to raise public awareness; at the same time, it will regularly conduct inspections and closely monitor the situation, resolutely handling cases of repeat offenses, gradually forming a civilized lifestyle and urban order and discipline.
