Strengthening the linkage between fruit production and consumption

(CT) - On August 28, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) of Can Tho City coordinated with Vina T&T Import-Export Trading Service Co., Ltd. to organize a workshop on "Linking production and consumption of fruit trees according to market orientation". The workshop aimed to orient production, connect supply and demand, promote cooperation and strengthen the linkage between farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises in the value chain of fruit production and consumption.

Currently, Can Tho City has 102,194 hectares of fruit trees, with an output of over 1 million tons/year. Fruit trees grown in the city are quite diverse in species, with many delicious fruits, specialties with high economic value and export potential. With the active support from the city's Department of Agriculture and Environment and functional agencies, farmers in the area have promoted the application of technical advances, new varieties, and advanced farming processes to improve productivity, ensure product quality and safety...

However, the connection between fruit production and consumption is still difficult and limited: the value chain is not sustainable, the connection between farmers - cooperatives and enterprises is not tight, the consumption market is still unstable. Farmers still have difficulty in standardizing production to meet domestic and international market standards.

Delegates participated in exchanges and discussions at the workshop.

At the workshop, delegates were updated with information on the production situation, production linkage and fruit consumption in Can Tho city; reported on the results of supporting cooperatives to build fruit material areas meeting Global GAP standards; requirements of fruit importing countries on product quality standards and plant quarantine, food safety control...

The workshop also devoted much time for farmers, experts, businesses and representatives of state management agencies to exchange, discuss and answer questions from farmers. At the same time, experiences, good practices and solutions were shared to promptly resolve difficulties and strengthen the connection between relevant parties in fruit production and consumption in line with market demand.

Vina T&T Import-Export Trading Service Company Limited and Trang Ti Garden Cooperative signed a memorandum of cooperation on consuming longan fruit that meets Global GAP standards.

On this occasion, Trang Ti Garden Cooperative was awarded the Certificate of longan production meeting Global GAP standards. At the same time, Trang Ti Garden Cooperative and Vina T&T Import-Export Trading Service Company Limited signed a memorandum of cooperation on consuming longan meeting Global GAP standards, with an expected output of 30 tons.
