From there, changing the fragmented and small-scale thinking in production of people, contributing to promoting the development of agricultural economy in rural areas to become more and more prosperous.
Keep traditional profession, have more income
To preserve and spread the unique cultural values of the nation, in 2019, the Women's Union of Po To commune established the Bana brocade weaving group in village 5 with 10 members; to date, the number of members of the group has tripled. Ms. Dinh Nhu, Head of the brocade weaving group, excitedly said: It is worth noting that the weaving group not only attracts women and mothers but also has an increasing number of girls participating. Everyone feels excited and proud to be able to preserve and promote the traditional craft of their people.

To widely promote the products of the weaving group, young members have been active and creative in promoting their products on social networks. Thereby, introducing and spreading the unique cultural traditions of their people to tourists inside and outside the province, while helping the women earn more income. The stable output further motivates the women to continuously learn and create many new patterns, making the products more unique and suitable to the needs of customers.
Established in 2017, the Brocade Weaving Association in Vinh Thinh commune has become well-known. Since then, the conditions for artisans here to access customers have also improved. Ms. Dinh Thi Hien (Thanh Quang village, Head of the Brocade Weaving Association in Vinh Thinh commune) said: "Thanks to the attention of the State in supporting the establishment of professional associations, donating weaving frames, providing vocational training, etc., the local brocade weaving profession has been preserved and developed. Many young women have learned to weave brocade, and the products they make are sold in the village, also to tourists, and even fashion designers in Hanoi have placed orders."
Ha Van Tren village (Canh Vinh commune) has also been invested in to restore brocade weaving quite early. Since 2014, the village has been supported with 50 small looms and 15 large looms along with sewing machines, overlock machines and irons so that people can participate in brocade weaving. By 2020, the collective brand "Ha Van Tren Brocade Fabric" was certified. In 2022, the "Brocade Weaving" Association of Ha Van Tren village women was established, adding motivation for the government and people to join hands to preserve cultural beauty.
Promote the establishment of production cooperatives
The Provincial Women's Union currently has over 616,800 members, of which more than 25% are ethnic minorities, living mainly in the western part of the province. In addition to mobilizing members to participate in association groups and cooperative groups to preserve and promote the unique cultural values of the nation, combined with family economic development, in recent times, the Provincial Women's Union at all levels has also mobilized many ethnic minority women to participate in association groups to grow sweet corn, produce and consume rice, coffee, etc.

Not only attracting many women to participate, the association groups are also increasingly operating effectively. The association group for coffee production and consumption deployed by the Women's Union of Lo Pang commune is one of them. From 2021 to now, the Women's Union of the commune has linked with the Agricultural and Service Cooperative of Lo Pang commune to support women in sustainable coffee production and consumption. Over the past 4 years, the association group has attracted more than 150 ethnic minority women in villages in the area to participate because of the many benefits it brings. Women are not only supported, consulted, and shared with techniques for planting, caring for, and preventing pests and diseases for coffee trees, but also buy fertilizer on credit and receive output support at market prices.
Ms. Avòi, a member of the Roh Village Coffee Production and Consumption Linkage Group (Lo Pang Commune), said: “By joining the production linkage group, I know how to cut branches, fertilize, water, and harvest coffee in an effective and scientific way. Before, I used to pick green coffee, now I only pick and dry the coffee when it is ripe, when the price is high I sell it, when the price is low I leave it.”
Mr. Ngo Quang Ty - Director of the Agricultural and Service Cooperative of Lo Pang Commune - said: "The Cooperative provides interest-free fertilizer and provides scientific and technical advice to help people take care of their coffee. We also purchase coffee at market prices to ensure a stable output for people."
By promoting the establishment of linkage groups and production cooperatives among women in rural and ethnic minority areas, not only has it helped many women change their thinking and working methods in agricultural production, but they also know how to exploit and promote traditional occupations to increase income and improve their lives. Thereby, it contributes to the effective implementation of the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers until 2030" associated with 3 national target programs on new rural construction, sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province.
