Many garment businesses are preparing their final export orders of the year.

Efforts to fulfill the order

In some garment factories, the atmosphere is bustling with activity, and workers are in high spirits. The work atmosphere is much more vibrant at the end of the year. Many businesses are striving to expand orders, improve income, and aim for stable growth amidst a volatile market.

At TBT Garment Co., Ltd. (Ha Tay commune), workers are busily producing garments to meet the final export shipment to the United States. About three months ago, the company entered its peak production period for year-end exports. Although the market hasn't expanded, orders have steadily increased year after year, with workers sometimes having to work overtime continuously to keep up with deadlines. This year, the company exported over 2 million products to the US, South Korea, and the EU, a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Of this, exports to the US accounted for 80% of production, a 20% increase; revenue reached $2.5 million, a 10% increase.

Formostar Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. (Ai Quoc Ward) has over 1,000 workers specializing in garment production. According to a company representative, orders for 2025 have been largely completed, and orders are being accepted until the end of the second quarter of 2026. The company produces approximately 250,000 products per month. Currently, its products are exported to the US (accounting for up to 80%), the EU, and Asia. To ensure timely delivery of year-end orders, the company has added many modern, automated machines such as programmable machines, ironing presses, fabric cutting and spreading machines, button feeding machines, and conveyor systems.

According to Hai Phong City Statistics, the city's industrial production index in October 2025 is estimated to have increased by 3.81% compared to September 2025. Several key industries achieved relatively high growth rates, including the garment manufacturing industry which increased by 26.26%; and the manufacturing of electronic products, computers, and optical products which increased by 16.02%...

The atmosphere in textile factories became more hectic in the final days of 2025.

Mr. Le Viet Thu, Director of TBT Garment Co., Ltd., said: “The end of the year is always the busiest time. Businesses have to deliver goods on time, maintain credibility with partners, and at the same time seize opportunities to open new orders for the following year. The workers are very hardworking, many of them register for overtime to earn extra income.”

Retaining employees

The end of the year always puts significant pressure on manpower. To stabilize production, many garment businesses in Hai Phong are paying more attention to welfare policies and support to ensure employees feel secure in their jobs. Besides salaries, allowances for transportation, meals, attendance, etc., are maintained, and even increased in some key production departments.

Mr. Pham Minh Duc, Chairman of the Trade Union of Minh Thanh Garment Export Company Limited (Hung Dao Ward), said that the labor market is currently very competitive. Therefore, in addition to salary and bonuses, businesses are also proactively understanding the thoughts and aspirations of workers, paying more attention to their spiritual well-being to retain employees. "If the trade union and the company do not do a good job, workers are very likely to leave," Mr. Duc said.

Most garment businesses are incorporating modern technology into production, reducing the direct labor of workers.

Besides expanding their markets, many garment businesses in Hai Phong continue to invest in modernizing their production lines and applying technology to manufacturing. Some businesses have introduced automated cutting and fabric spreading systems, as well as software for managing production schedules and quality control. As a result, productivity has improved, costs associated with defects have decreased, and time has been saved in the product finishing process.

A representative from Tran An Garment Co., Ltd. (Thanh Dong Ward) stated that since switching to automated sewing machines, they have overcome the limitations of manual sewing machines, improved quality, reduced defective products, and achieved higher economic efficiency. To date, the company has replaced 100% of its manual sewing machines.

In 2025, many textile and garment businesses in Hai Phong will strengthen skills training for their workers. Short-term training courses will be organized right at the factories, helping workers quickly master machinery and improve their operational skills.

According to a report by the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board on the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Textile, Garment, and Footwear Industry until 2030, with a vision to 2035, the textile, garment, and footwear production continues to maintain stable growth, making a significant contribution to the country's GDP growth. This is a labor-intensive industry, accounting for a large proportion of the total workforce in the industrial sector, representing 20% of the total workforce.

Entering its 7th term (2025-2030), with a focus on sustainable development and a circular economy, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association aims to achieve export turnover of US$64.5 billion by 2030; an average growth rate of 6.5-7% per year; and develop the domestic market to reach US$8-9 billion. The strategic focus is on "Greening - Digitalization," increasing the localization rate to over 60%, and building strong Vietnamese fashion brands.

In 2024-2025, the domestic textile and garment industry in general, and Hai Phong in particular, will continue to face many challenges. However, many garment businesses in the city still maintain relatively stable orders thanks to proactive production linkages, seeking new customers, and improving product quality.
