| Signing of a cooperation agreement between the Dong Nai Logistics Association and Vietcombank Bien Hoa branch. |
The Dong Nai Logistics Association was recently established and launched on December 1st. This is an important event aimed at connecting, linking, and developing members and businesses in the industry, and elevating the logistics service sector in Dong Nai.
The logistics service industry has great potential for development.
According to experts, with its new role and position after the merger, the newly merged Dong Nai province will be a key hub for Vietnam's logistics development in the future.
Having spent many years researching and working alongside Vietnam's logistics industry, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), assessed that Dong Nai is one of the localities with many advantages for developing logistics. In addition to road and waterway transport, air logistics will be a distinct advantage, linked to the soon-to-be-operational Long Thanh International Airport. This airport holds a significant regional position; therefore, the province should aim to develop it into an important cargo transit hub for the region and the entire country, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the economy.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Chung, CEO of Phaata International Logistics Exchange, stated that: Besides the area around Long Thanh Airport and industrial zones, expanding administrative boundaries will create space for development. New transportation projects will also connect the Central Highlands and the former Binh Phuoc province with Long Thanh Airport and Cai Mep Port more conveniently. New connecting routes and the Hoa Lu ICD (Inland Container Depot) will also help the province expand its logistics space, becoming a gateway for transshipment of goods from Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand to the East Sea.
Similarly, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Vu Ngoc Long also stated: Dong Nai is one of the major industrial and export centers of the country, closely connected with Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands. Currently, Dong Nai's import and export turnover reaches tens of billions of USD annually. In the current economic context, logistics is no longer simply a supporting service industry but has become one of the important driving forces promoting growth and enhancing the competitiveness of the local economy.
To fully exploit the potential in the logistics sector, businesses in the industry also hope that the locality will continue to promote administrative procedure reforms, creating more favorable conditions for investors to develop logistics centers applying modern technology and automation in warehouse and transportation management. Along with that, they hope for the expansion of industrial parks, increased application of information technology and artificial intelligence in supply chain management, and the development of green logistics.
Connecting businesses, elevating services.
To ensure the logistics service sector in the province develops as desired, the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Vu Ngoc Long, requested the Dong Nai Logistics Association to play a representative and bridging role between businesses and the government; proactively participate in advising and providing feedback on policies in the fields of logistics, transportation, and import-export; and promptly propose solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles for businesses. At the same time, he urged the Association to strengthen regional and international linkages, connect with domestic and foreign associations and businesses; promote digital transformation, green logistics, and smart logistics to meet the requirements of sustainable development and international integration.
Dong Nai's goal is to become a major transportation and logistics hub, a large center for economy, culture, education and training, science and technology, etc. According to the Dong Nai Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province will establish four major logistics centers and warehousing centers in many localities.
On the business side, Mr. Phan Dinh Canh, Chairman of the Dong Nai Logistics Association, shared: The association's purpose is to contribute to promoting linkages, enhancing competitiveness, and supporting business development in the context of deep integration and strong digital transformation. The Dong Nai Logistics Association will maximize the potential and advantages of Long Thanh Airport and seaports in Dong Nai to promote logistics development. The association strives to become a reliable bridge between businesses and the government, promptly reflecting the concerns and recommendations of its members; promoting linkages, cooperation, and sharing to form a synchronized, efficient, and highly competitive logistics network in Dong Nai in the region and nationwide. Simultaneously, it will actively participate in planning the connection of logistics infrastructure, contributing solutions to improve logistics indicators and the business environment of the province.
Beyond linking individual businesses, Mr. Vu Thang Loi, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute, believes that the development of Dong Nai's logistics industry needs to be considered within a regional context. Accordingly, the focus should be on developing a province-wide logistics data platform, interconnected with the national platform. Simultaneously, the role of the Southeast Region Coordination Council should be promoted through concrete actions such as projects, research topics, and practical logistics policies at the regional level. The Dong Nai Logistics Association also needs to maintain close ties with the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) in proposing development policies for the province and the industry.
