Strengthening the Francophone University Organization's support for Vietnamese education

The Francophone University Association (AUF) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1961. Currently, the network of member universities of the Organization includes more than 1,000 training institutions in 119 countries around the world.

The purpose and mission of the Francophone University Organization is to connect universities and colleges that use French in training around the world, aiming to form a Francophone community in the field of higher education for sustainable development and solidarity, in which respect for cultural and linguistic diversity is emphasized, contributing to promoting economic , cultural and social development in places where the Francophone University Organization is present.

AUF's priorities focus on five major areas: Digital transformation and university governance; Employment and entrepreneurship opportunities; International networks and cooperation; Teacher and lecturer training and pedagogical innovation; Research and recognition of research results.

In Asia, the Francophone University Organization has higher education institutions in many countries such as Japan, Korea, India, China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, etc. In Vietnam, up to now, there have been 47 Vietnamese universities that are members of the Francophone University Organization.

AUF has supported Vietnam in implementing a number of technology transfer projects such as the development and implementation of specialized training programs for undergraduate and master degrees in French for nearly 20 years with a total of nearly 50 training programs; the bilingual program at the general level of French language training from primary to high school is still being implemented. In the period from 2018 to 2022 alone, there are about more than 40 projects being implemented.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc said: The Ministry of Education and Training and the Francophone University Organization signed a cooperation agreement in 2019, and then in 2020 and 2021, they supported a number of items on equipment and research and surveys on university-enterprise cooperation. Professional activities, research and surveys were carried out enthusiastically and actively by universities in Vietnam.

According to the Deputy Minister, currently, career guidance and job counseling in Vietnam still face many difficulties, therefore, it is necessary to have guidance and learning from universities and organizations around the world , including the Francophone University Organization.

In addition, with the current autonomy, Vietnamese universities hope to promote cooperation in exchanging students and lecturers with universities around the world; at the same time, attract many students from countries around the world to study and research in Vietnam.

Thanking the Deputy Minister of Education and Training for the welcome, Director of the Asia-Pacific Office, Francophone University Organization Nicolas Mainetti informed: DRAP-AUF Office was established and located in Hanoi since 1993, operating a network of 87 members in 12 countries in this region.

DRAP-AUF focuses on activities related to important topics in the Francophone community such as creating employment opportunities and professional integration through the reinforcement of partners with experts in the socio-economic field; supporting the creation of professional human resource training programs and strengthening French language departments in universities; supporting the construction and development of a mixed training model from an existing traditional training model; supporting the creation of teaching at the university level in the Pacific region, supporting research projects on local and global development services...

With the relationships built and supported in the past time, Mr. Nicolas Mainetti hopes that in the coming time, the Asia-Pacific Office, the Francophone University Organization will continue to have programs and projects to accompany universities in particular and Vietnamese education in general to meet the requirements in the context of internationalization and increased integration.
