Today, October 22nd, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region increased for both paddy and milled rice. Trading activity was subdued.
According to an update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, today's rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. IR 50404 is priced at 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice at 7,200 - 7,400 VND/kg (up 100 VND/kg); OM 18 rice at 7,500 - 7,800 VND/kg; OM 380 rice fluctuating between 7,200 - 7,300 VND/kg; Nhat rice at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Nhen (dried) rice at 20,000 VND/kg.

Observations in localities such as Soc Trang and Dong Thap show sluggish transactions with few buyers. In An Giang, much of the rice is of poor quality, warehouses are slow to buy, and prices have decreased slightly. In Dong Thap, warehouses are buying at lower prices, transactions are quiet, and there are few buyers.
In addition, the glutinous rice market remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Long An IR 4625 glutinous rice (dry) at 9,600 - 9,800 VND/kg remained stable compared to yesterday. Long An 3-month glutinous rice (dry) at 9,800 - 10,000 VND/kg also remained unchanged compared to yesterday.
On the rice market, prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. Currently, the price of IR 504 summer-autumn raw rice is at 10,500 - 10,750 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of finished IR 504 rice is at 12,650 - 12,800 VND/kg, also an increase of 50 VND/kg.
Regarding by-products, the prices of various by-products range from 5,950 to 9,600 VND/kg. Currently, the price of OM 5451 broken rice remains stable at 9,500 - 9,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday; the price of dry rice bran is unchanged at 5,900 - 6,050 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
At retail markets, rice prices have seen adjustments for various rice varieties. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; the price of common white rice has increased by 500 VND/kg today, reaching 17,500 VND/kg. However, the price of regular rice remains stable at around 15,000 - 17,000 VND/kg, fragrant rice at 17,000 - 23,000 VND/kg. Jasmine rice is priced at 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 21,500 VND/kg; regular white rice fluctuates around 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg; long-grain fragrant rice at 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice at 23,000 VND/kg; and Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg. Regular Soc rice costs 18,500 VND/kg; Thai Soc rice costs 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice costs 22,000 VND/kg.
On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice is priced at 438 USD/ton, down 1 USD; standard 5% broken rice is at 534 USD/ton; and 25% broken rice is at 506 USD/ton.
Indian export rice prices remained near their lowest levels in over a year despite a slight increase in demand, while Thai rice prices rose thanks to steady customer demand.
As of October 18th, the price of 5% broken parboiled rice from India, the world's leading rice exporter, was offered at $490-495 per ton, the lowest level since August 24th, 2023, unchanged from the previous week.
A trader in Ho Chi Minh City said trading activity this week has been quiet due to low domestic supply. He noted that India's easing of export restrictions has had some impact on the global market, but the effect on Vietnamese rice remains limited.
Meanwhile, traders said rice prices in Bangladesh continued to rise this week due to the impact of flooding.
