An Giang maintains its autumn-winter crop amidst rising floodwaters.

In the context of the 2025 flood level rising rapidly and far exceeding the average of many years, An Giang agriculture still operates stably, especially the autumn-winter rice crop - which is the most vulnerable. This success comes from the solid investment in the internal irrigation system, along with the flexible forecasting and management work of the government.

In upstream districts such as An Phu, Tinh Bien or Tri Ton, many dykes were reinforced in time, helping to absolutely protect the production areas. According to Mr. Vo Van Len, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, irrigation works are currently operated according to the motto "flexible - proactive - safe", ensuring that the water does not move even when the flood rises quickly.

The agricultural sector also coordinates the operation of large sluices such as Cai Lon - Cai Be, Xeo Ro to drain water and cope with high tides. Thanks to that, the autumn-winter crop still grows well, especially in the fields under the 1 million hectare high-quality rice project. Farmer Khanh An said that the solid dykes and fast-draining sluices help keep the fields safe, and the yield is expected to be positive.

By the third quarter of 2025, the whole province will have cultivated more than 1.345 million hectares, with an output of nearly 7.4 million tons; the whole year is expected to increase by 0.81% compared to 2024. Currently, 92,658 hectares have been linked to consumption with businesses, creating higher value for farmers. An Giang also continuously checks dikes, proactively pumps and coordinates the operation of large sluices to minimize risks during the rainy and stormy season.
