The investor is asking contractors to continue to increase the load with stone materials, ensuring that new sections complete the loading work to treat weak soil to be eligible for unloading in September, and proceed to construct the surface foundation to reach the finish line in 2025.

Regarding the construction status of the North-South Expressway project, the Can Tho - Ca Mau section, the Ministry of Construction said that although the supply of sand and stone materials for the loading work has been determined to be sufficient, the exploitation capacity is still limited (about 35,000 m3/day), while the demand is about 69,000 m3/day.

To meet the required progress, the investor has directed consulting units to study technical solutions and make design adjustments to shorten the time for handling weak ground.

"In order to reduce pressure on sand materials, sections completed in January and February 2025 will continue to be loaded with stone materials in March and April to ensure conditions for unloading in September 2025," the Ministry of Construction informed.

According to the latest update, as of March 14, An Giang province has allowed the resumption of sand mining in Khanh Hoa commune (Chau Phu district) and Hoa Lac commune (Phu Tan district) with a total reserve of nearly 2 million m3. This locality also approved the resumption of river sand mining and recovery for the Vam Nao river dredging project (Phu Tan district) which is currently suspended.

In Dong Thap, the Provincial People's Committee has resolved procedures to increase the exploited reserves of two mines in Thuong Thoi Tien commune (Hong Ngu district) and My Xuong commune (Cao Lanh district), with reserves of more than 475 thousand m3.

Regarding the source of stone materials for the construction of the road foundation for the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project, An Giang province has extended the license to exploit Antraco stone quarry to serve the project.

Kien Giang province has assigned some areas of Tra Duoc Lon and Hon Soc stone mines to contractors for exploitation under special mechanisms.
