Create strong, comprehensive changes in training quality associated with scientific research and development

Reporting at the Opening Ceremony, Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang said: The theme of the 2024-2025 school year is "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline". Teachers and students of the school will work and devote themselves to the success of students, so that teachers can shine, so that Hanoi University of Science and Technology can grow, contributing a small but worthy part to help Vietnam grow in the era of innovation and development.

In a message to students, Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang noted that university studies have many differences, requiring students to be mature and choose the knowledge they need to learn and explore. They need to have a balance and allocate time for studying, entertainment, and sports training in a reasonable way.

“Hanoi University of Science and Technology will be a foundation, a miniature society, not only a place for students to learn professional and vocational knowledge, but also a place for them to practice physical training, learn sports, learn work culture, and behavioral culture to develop their personality in the best way”, Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Quyet Thang affirmed.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia praised and acknowledged that after 70 years of construction and development, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has gradually affirmed its position and prestige; is the cradle of training high-quality scientific and technical human resources, making important contributions to the cause of building, developing the country and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department spoke at the ceremony.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has trained over 200 thousand engineers; 17 thousand masters; nearly 1,200 doctors. Many technical universities such as: Military Technical Academy, Danang University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Thu Duc University of Education, Tay Nguyen University were formed and developed as today, thanks to the important contribution of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

From the first 848 students in 1956, up to now, the School has enrolled over 9,000 students per course, with a training scale of nearly 40,000 students, including international students. The staff and lecturers with doctoral and doctoral degrees in science account for 74% (the highest rate among higher education institutions in the country), including nearly 300 professors and associate professors. This is the most important resource, potential, advantage, force and motivation that needs to be nurtured, promoted, exploited and used effectively.

According to the QS World University Rankings (UK), in 2023, Hanoi University of Science and Technology ranked 248th in Asia; 54th in Southeast Asia. Hanoi University of Science and Technology is an active and key member of the national innovation network, playing a leading role in domestic technical universities to develop and spread initiatives, scientific and technological solutions and innovation.

The Head of the Central Propaganda Department hopes that Hanoi University of Science and Technology will continue to promote the achieved results; at the same time, build clearer strategic orientations for development in the 2025-2030 period and orientation to 2045. In particular, in the 2024-2025 school year and the coming time, Hanoi University of Science and Technology needs to deeply perceive and fully grasp the Party's viewpoints and guidelines on education and training, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, etc.

Pointing out that Hanoi University of Science and Technology needs to raise awareness of its position and role in the task of training high-quality human resources, leading scientific research, innovation in the field of science, technology, and meeting the requirements of rapid and sustainable development of the country, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the school focus on research, proposing new, breakthrough ideas; boldly pilot new models or creatively and selectively apply advanced models of world-class universities. Hanoi University of Science and Technology also needs to create a strong, comprehensive change in the quality of training associated with research, development of science, technology and innovation. Pay special attention to building a team of teachers in terms of talent and morality, quality and scientific reputation, because this is the most important resource and driving force to create breakthrough development.

On this occasion, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia laid flowers at the Monument "Cadres and students put down their pens and ink to defend the Fatherland", and attended the Inauguration Ceremony of the Learning Materials Development Center No. 2 at the Ta Quang Buu Library Building of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
