Reporting to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Kim Deawon said that Samsung E&A is currently operating strongly in the industrial and environmental fields, owning many advanced technologies in domestic wastewater treatment, with underground systems and public works above.
Recently, Samsung E&A has cooperated with Vietnamese partner (DNP Water Company) to propose and implement investment in a number of projects to supply fresh water for daily life and production for people in the Mekong Delta to cope with climate change and saltwater intrusion.
Specifically, the raw water supply project from the upper Tien River has a total designed capacity of 600,000 m³/day. Last October, Samsung and DNP Water started construction of phase 1 with a total investment of VND 1,820 billion, a capacity of 300,000 m³/day, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026, ensuring fresh water supply for about 2 million people in coastal areas of Dong Thap , Tay Ninh, and Vinh Long provinces.
The Hau River raw water supply project aims to supplement surface water from upstream, gradually replace groundwater causing subsidence, and at the same time ensure water for daily life and production, adapt to climate change and saltwater intrusion in the Ca Mau peninsula. The project has a design capacity of about 600,000 m³/day in the first phase, with a total investment in the water pipeline of about 6,000 billion VND.
In addition, Samsung E&A also expressed interest in a number of domestic wastewater treatment projects in the Mekong Delta, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.

In a discussion with the leaders of Samsung E&A Company, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that for the Mekong Delta, the issue of centralized water supply has been included by the Government in the strategy, plan and project for regional development. The Government always welcomes and highly appreciates investment projects in this field.
However, centralized water supply projects must ensure reasonable investment costs and need to be considered in parallel with other irrigation options such as building dams and reservoirs to distribute water resources appropriately.
During construction, the water supply pipeline system needs to be calculated in conjunction with synchronous infrastructure development, including traffic, water supply, electricity and other technical works, especially when constructing underground through newly built roads; ensuring aesthetics and traffic safety on waterways and roads.
