Focus on planning and restoring the special national relic My Son Temple Complex

Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi inspected and surveyed the preservation, renovation, embellishment and restoration work at the Cham tower groups in My Son that have been and are being implemented.

At the same time, listen to the report from the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board on the current status of the towers, groups of towers, the restoration and embellishment of Cham towers; exchange with experts who are carrying out the conservation and restoration of Cham towers here.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee worked with the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board, Thu Bon Commune People's Committee and departments and branches on the planning for preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the My Son National Special Monument.

It is known that the task of planning the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national relic My Son Temple Complex was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1404/QD-TTg dated June 27, 2025.

On August 11, 2025, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board issued an official dispatch and report requesting the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) to be the investor to carry out the following work contents.

According to Decision No. 1404/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, the maximum planning period is 24 months from the date the task is approved (not including the time for appraisal, approval of estimates, bidding for selection of consulting units, appraisal and approval of the planning). The plan for implementing the next steps is expected to be implemented within 17 months.

The proposed capital for planning implementation is about 6.6 billion VND (from the additional funding of 15 billion VND for tangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO according to Resolution No. 01/2021/UBTVQH15 dated September 1, 2021 of the National Assembly Standing Committee) has been allocated by the People's Committee of Duy Xuyen district (old) from the 2025 budget estimate. The remaining funding is proposed to be supplemented in 2026 according to current regulations.

At the inspection, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board and relevant agencies and units in preserving and promoting the value of the relic site; the proactiveness and positivity of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant agencies and units in advising the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (old) to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the task of establishing a plan to preserve, restore and renovate the special national relic of My Son Temple Complex.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be the investor in establishing a plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national relic My Son Temple Complex; and advise the City People's Committee to issue a plan for implementing the planning in the coming time.

Clearly define each work content, the leading unit, the coordinating unit, the implementation time, and the output products to ensure the schedule. Organize bidding to select a consulting unit; appraise and approve the planning; complete and report to the City People's Committee on the draft plan. Coordinate with the consulting unit and related units to develop a budget estimate for planning.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to preside over, coordinate, and advise competent authorities to arrange budget estimates according to regulations. Assign departments, branches, and the People's Committee of Thu Bon commune to be responsible for proactively coordinating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the process of researching and organizing the planning to ensure quality, progress, and efficiency.

The My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to develop a specific plan to carry out the restoration and conservation of the relic site.

Clearly identify priority tasks and conservation solutions. Coordinate with units and experts to implement conservation solutions and maintain traditional cultural values. Strengthen propaganda and community education on the cultural and historical values of the relic site.
