In recent times, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, illegal transportation of goods across the border in the province has decreased significantly and has been gradually controlled, thanks to the joint efforts of functional forces, actively contributing to maintaining political security, social order and safety, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development in the border area. To continue to maintain stability on the border, the border forces stationed in each area have developed plans to attack and suppress crimes of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. In particular, focusing on destroying smuggling rings and gangs through trails and openings on the border; resolutely preventing smuggling, counterfeit goods, illegal transportation of goods across the border in association with maintaining security, order and social safety in the border area. In addition, promote the role and responsibility of Party committees and commanders in leading, directing and operating plans to prevent and combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; do not let officers and soldiers in the unit violate the law. Promote the combined strength of border protection measures. Closely coordinate with functional forces to exchange information, promptly detect, arrest and strictly handle violations according to regulations.

According to the reporter, at the border gate, trucks carrying goods (packaged food, cosmetics, etc.) are strictly inspected. Not only coordinating at the border gate area, the border force also actively patrols and controls the route under their management. Major Bui Van Liet said: “The border post manages a nearly 10km long border section with many trails and canals, so it is very convenient for border crossings; people on both sides of the border have long-standing ethnic and kinship relationships, often going back and forth to do business, buy and sell, visit relatives... This is also a favorable condition for criminals to take advantage of to operate, notably economic , criminal, drug, human trafficking crimes; smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; illegal entry and exit, organizing illegal entry and exit for others... Therefore, the force regularly coordinates with the police, customs, and market management in exchanging information and situations related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods across the border... Regularly maintain border protection management posts, arrange officers and soldiers on duty to ensure prevention and suppression of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, Prevent illegal entry and exit activities, prevent and control epidemics from outside. Closely coordinate with the Health Quarantine force at the border gate in preventing, stopping and being ready to implement response plans when an epidemic occurs.
Not only at major border gate areas, the work of attacking and suppressing crimes of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods on other key border routes is also fierce and highly effective. Specifically, Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station (Chau Doc City), in the first 6 months of 2025, presided over and coordinated the detection, arrest and handling of 17 smuggling cases, involving 12 subjects (including 4 ownerless cases), confiscating 12,780 packs of foreign cigarettes of all kinds; 372.5 kg of firecrackers and more than 12 kg of gold; 6 bicycles. The total value of goods is nearly 27 billion VND, contributing to stabilizing security and order on the border.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thanh Tam, Deputy Head of the Department of Operations, Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station, shared: “To successfully complete the task, the Station Command has thoroughly grasped and strictly implemented the orders, instructions and plans on crime prevention and control from superiors; determined the roles and responsibilities of individuals and units in the fight against crime, creating unity in awareness and action in leadership, direction, and organization of effective implementation of crime prevention and control tasks in the border area. In the coming time, the unit will continue to regularly patrol the routes and areas that smugglers take advantage of to transport illegal goods... At the same time, do a good job of propaganda, disseminationand education of the law for the masses so that people do not participate in or assist in smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods across the border”.
