Implementing the Government's policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, Tay Ninh province has mobilized many resources and promoted community strength to take care of housing for people.
According to statistics, from the program's implementation from August 2024 to its completion, the whole province had 924 houses supported for new construction and repair.
Of which, the area of Tay Ninh province (old) before the merger had 594 houses (464 newly built houses, 130 repaired houses), with a support level of 90 million VND/newly built house and 40 million VND/repaired house.
In the area of Long An province (old), the program was completed with 330 houses (310 newly built houses, 20 repaired houses), with support costs ranging from 40 to 80 million VND/house. At the end of April and May 2025, the two provinces of Long An (old) and Tay Ninh (old) announced the completion of the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
The highlight of the program is the flexible and creative approach. The area of the Great Unity House was increased from 32m² to 40m², ensuring a spacious and comfortable living space. Many residential areas have invested in synchronous infrastructure for transportation, water supply and drainage, wastewater treatment, and hundreds of new trees. Philanthropists also donated many modern amenities such as free wifi, television, solar bulbs, gas stoves, etc., contributing to improving the quality of life.
The spirit of community solidarity was strongly spread: militia and people joined hands to contribute working days, reducing construction costs; many localities also mobilized additional funds to support difficult cases, demonstrating the spirit of "leaving no one behind".
Although there were many obstacles regarding land, procedures, or difficulties in social mobilization, with the strong direction of the Central Government, the participation of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, the obstacles were removed.
In particular, the province has promptly advanced from the Gratitude Fund and the Fund for the Poor to build houses for poor households, near-poor households, and meritorious people, helping people enjoy the joy of settling down on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses not only brings sustainable shelters, but also affirms the spirit of solidarity and affection of the community. This success also leaves many valuable lessons about consistency in policy, close coordination between levels, companionship of businesses and people, and transparency in the implementation process.
With the achieved results, Tay Ninh province has affirmed the image of a locality of humanity and kindness, spreading the spirit of solidarity./.
