(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On the morning of October 18th, during the 2024 Air Defense Force's live-fire tactical exercise, S-75 Dvina missiles repeatedly launched to destroy UAV targets in the sky within a 16km range.
On the morning of October 18th, at the TB1 National Shooting Range (Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province), the Air Defense - Air Force Command inaugurated the 2024 Air Defense Tactical Live-Fire Exercise. This tactical exercise, involving live firing, aims to assess training results, combat readiness, and the quality of weapons, equipment, and technical support of the units. This is also an opportunity to train and improve the organizational and command skills, combat capabilities, and combat maneuvers of the combat crews of the units, especially in complex situations... from which lessons are learned to organize command and control of combat and to organize troop training that is close to reality and meets the requirements of the mission.
From the morning of October 17th, air defense forces had completed preparations and were ready to carry out the exercise.
To ensure the exercise was successful, agencies and units within the Air Defense - Air Force Command did a good job of preparation, ensuring all aspects were well-provided, including equipment and ammunition, and maintaining a smooth and reliable communication system; at the same time, they closely coordinated with local authorities to ensure security and social order in the area of Shooting Range Area 1. Anti-aircraft artillery positions with 57mm and 37mm cannons practiced shooting down UAV targets in the sky. In addition, units practiced firing ZSu-23-4M short-range missiles. UAVs fly overhead to serve as targets for shooting practice at the TB1 National Shooting Range.
Prior to the exercise, the anti-aircraft artillery forces had conducted firing practice day and night to best prepare for the official drill. The 2024 tactical air defense exercise, which included live firing, involved six air defense divisions. The 57mm cannons roared as the units practiced target practice in the evening. The S-75 Dvina surface-to-air missile (also known as Volga or SAM-2) leaves its launch platform to destroy a UAV target 16km away. The S-75 Dvina air defense missile system has an altitude reach of up to 27km and a firing range of up to 35km.
Air defense units conducted numerous firing exercises of S-75 Dvina missiles from various positions at the TB1 firing range. This is also a regular training exercise that helps air defense forces thoroughly understand the capabilities and tactical skills of the weapons, as well as master the weapons and equipment, ready to respond to situations and protect the peace of the nation's airspace. Officers and soldiers of the 367th Division (Air Defense - Air Force) receive congratulatory flowers from the division's leadership after successfully firing S-75 Dvina missiles, completing the firing exercise well. The 2024 tactical exercise with live ammunition for air defense units is an opportunity for air defense forces throughout the entire Air Force to achieve accomplishments in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day.
