The Thai government will prioritize addressing the country's declining birth rate on its national agenda, amid a continuing low birth rate and the country's looming challenge of a super-aging society.
According to the Bangkok Post, in response to questions from members of parliament, Thai Public Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew acknowledged that addressing the declining birth rate is not easy due to changing priorities and socio -economic values. However, he stated that the government will urgently address the issue because a continuously declining birth rate will have significant economic and social impacts.
According to expert recommendations, if no changes are made, Thailand's population will decrease to approximately 33 million people in the next six decades, including about 18 million elderly people, 14 million adults of working age, and only 1 million people aged 0-14.
