This is the third consecutive year that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik have met in a Grand Slam final. The first was at Roland Garros, with Alcaraz winning in a dramatic fashion despite having to save championship points.
The second final between the two young players took place at Wimbledon and Sinner successfully took revenge. In the two previous matches, the two players created dramatic and attractive matches. But at the US Open, the scenario was very different.
Notably, increased security measures due to the presence of President Donald Trump delayed the start of the match by about 30 minutes.
When entering the match, Alcaraz was in better physical condition, stronger. In particular, his ability to return serve made Sinner extremely confused.
And right at the first table of the match, Carlos Alcaraz broke. He continued to break at the 7th table and then won the first set 6-2.
In the second set, Sinner regained his focus and also broke early. The Italian player took advantage of the opportunity to win 6-3. But that was the best he could do in this match.
On a brilliant day, Alcaraz produced an overwhelming performance. In the next two sets, he won convincingly with scores of 6-1 and 6-4 respectively to win the 2025 US Open championship.
This is the 6th Grand Slam title of Alcaraz's career. In the open era, only Bjorn Borg (7) has won more Grand Slams than Alcaraz before turning 23.
The Spanish tennis player also officially rose to the world No. 1 position after winning the US Open.
