Thanh Hoa recommends looking up the origin, buying and using prescription drugs

Previously, through grasping the situation on cyberspace, establishing a case to fight against the large-scale drug production and trading of fake disease prevention and treatment drugs nationwide, the Economic Police Department, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police collected sufficient documents and evidence; mobilized forces, coordinated to urgently search the production, working and hiding places of goods of the subjects in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, An Giang, Dong Thap.

Authorities have discovered and seized 21 types of fake modern medicine and bone and joint medicine.

Some counterfeit drugs were seized by authorities.

According to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, taking advantage of the habit of self-prescribing and purchasing medicines, especially the elderly who want to buy and use medicines that treat bone and joint diseases, pain, and numbness at cheap prices; the group of subjects researched the ingredients of the medicine, invested in purchasing equipment, machinery, and raw materials such as starch, adhesives, pharmaceutical additives, bamboo charcoal, colorants, etc., then mixed and packaged them into medicines.

Police checked and discovered fake pharmaceutical products.

Of the 21 types of products seized by the police, 4 were fake western medicines: Tetracycline, Clorocid, Pharcoter, Neo-Codion; the remaining 17 were fake products suspected to be oriental medicines packaged in 39,323 boxes, with labels stating their intended use as medicines.

Initial analysis and testing results from the Testing Center of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health show that most of the content in fake oriental medicines is painkillers.

When buying and using fake drugs containing painkillers, patients feel the pain go away immediately so they believe and continue to buy fake drugs to use.

With the group of fake Western medicines, no toxic medicinal properties have been detected yet, but they do not have antibiotic medicinal properties as the instructions printed on the packaging.

Through inspection and review, up to this point, the state management agency in Thanh Hoa has not discovered any new counterfeit drug products that have been discovered and seized by the police and circulated in medical examination and treatment facilities.

Volunteer organization provides free nutritional rations to patients and caregivers at medical examination and treatment facilities.

The leader of Thanh Hoa Province's Department of Health said that counterfeit products are mainly sold online and at retail channels; they cannot penetrate the public hospital system because they do not have the documents and certificates to participate in bidding.

Professional and state management agencies in Thanh Hoa recommend that people should buy medicine at reputable, licensed establishments and should not buy drugs floating around or on social networks.

Before buying medicine, you should proactively look up the origin; if you detect any suspicious signs of production or trade of counterfeit medicine, immediately report it to the health agency and relevant authorities for handling.
