(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On June 24, in Vinh City (Nghe An), Military Region 4 held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Minister of National Defense on merging and reorganizing the Military Command of Quang Tri province; establishing the Regional Defense Command and the Border Guard Command under the Military Commands of 5 provinces and cities in Military Region 4.

To implement the Project on reorganizing and organizing local military forces when implementing a two-level local government, the Minister of National Defense signed a Decision to dissolve the Military Commands of Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces, and establish a new Military Command of Quang Tri province; dissolve 85 Military Commands of districts, cities, and towns, and establish 21 Regional Defense Commands; dissolve the Border Guard Commands of 6 provinces and cities, and establish 5 Border Guard Commands under the Military Commands of 5 provinces and cities in Military Region 4.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Minister of National Defense, emphasized that this is a major policy of great significance, marking a historical milestone in adjusting the organization of the military force, in line with reality, demonstrating the strategic thinking of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense, meeting the requirements of consolidating national defense, building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

To ensure synchronous, tight, and unified implementation, the Deputy Minister of National Defense requested the Party Committee and the Military Region 4 Command to closely follow the direction of the Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to reorganize the political apparatus, quickly stabilize the organization, staffing, and assign specific tasks.

At the same time, focus on directing agencies and units to adjust defense plans and combat plans according to new administrative boundaries; do a good job of protecting internal politics, building solidarity in leadership, command, internal solidarity, solidarity between the army and people, and maintaining stability in agencies and units.
