The city commends and honors 139 outstanding students in 2024

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the evening of November 9, at the Cultural Celebrity Relic Site of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem (Ly Hoc Commune, Vinh Bao District), the City People's Committee held a ceremony to honor outstanding students of Hai Phong City in 2024. This is the 20th year that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hai Phong City has been assigned as the standing agency to coordinate with the Departmentof Education and Training and related departments, branches and units to organize the Ceremony.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Le Khac Nam acknowledged the results of the 2023-2024 school year. Despite many difficulties and challenges, the city's Education and Training sector still maintained its top position among provinces and cities in training and fostering national excellent students with 98. High school students won prizes , ranked 3rd nationwide; 02 First Prizes in the National Science and Technology Competition and were selected to participate in the International Competition. Notably, in the International and Regional Olympic competitions, Hai Phong had 04 students participating and excellently won 05 Medals: 01 Gold Medal in the International Biology Olympiad; 01 Silver Medal in the International Physics Olympiad; 01 Bronze Medal in the International Mathematics Olympiad; 01 Bronze Medal in the Asian Physics Olympiad; 01 Silver Medal in the Asian Informatics Olympiad.

Along with the quality of key education, the quality of mass education continues to be improved. In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Hai Phong ranked 6th in the country in terms of average test scores, reaching 7.15 points, with 01 student achieving the highest score in the national group B; the high school graduation rate reached 99.66%. The rate of students passing the university entrance exam reached 62%. Students from universities in the city and students from Hai Phong at universities and academies nationwide graduated at a high rate, with many students being valedictorians and salutatorians.

To realize the goal of “ Building and developing Hai Phong to become the leading city in the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization; the driving force for development of the Northern region and the whole country…” According to Resolution 45 of the Politburo , the development of human resources, especially high-quality human resources, is determined to play a leading important role. Therefore, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac suggested that the city's Education and Training sector promote innovation and improve the quality of education; continue to pay attention to and care for the work of discovering and nurturing talents. Sectors, levels, socio-economic organizations, and enterprises should work with the city to treat, attract and employ talented people, creating a good environment for talented people to have the conditions to contribute the most to the city and the country. Pay attention and create conditions for good teachers to have the conditions to promote their abilities to train many good students for the city.

In 2024, the city will honor 139 outstanding students, including: 03 students winning international prizes, 01 student winning regional prizes, 81 students winning first, second and third prizes in cultural competitions, the National Science and Technology Competition for the 2023-2024 school year; UPU International Letter Writing Competition in 2024. 31 students graduating with honors or higher from universities in the city and students from Hai Phong graduating with honors or higher from universities, colleges and academies nationwide. 23 Hai Phong students participating in the 2024 High School Graduation Exam for the first time achieved high scores and were admitted to universities, colleges and academies at home or abroad.

Comrade Dao Trong Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam presented Certificates of Merit and wreaths to outstanding students in 2024.

In recognition of the proud achievements of outstanding students, the Chairman of the City People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit and allocate 1.39 billion VND from the budget to reward 139 outstanding students in 2024.

With the theme "Hai Phong students: Bright knowledge, solid skills, building the country", students of the city compete and strive to achieve high achievements in studying to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 17th City Party Congress, the 14th National Congress of the Party; build a generation of students who are patriotic and love the city; have the will to be self-reliant, the spirit of national pride and self-respect; have revolutionary ideals and aspirations; have knowledge, awareness of lifelong learning, digital transformation capacity, integration capacity, social practice skills; be dynamic, creative, have the spirit of vanguard, volunteer to participate in building and defending the Fatherland, serving the community, contributing to realizing the goals and tasks of developing Hai Phong city to become the leading city in the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization.
